EVERYBODY -- no matter what their occupation -- needs their paychecks. MTs are NOT exclusive in that regard. Yet, despite the fact that money who work in other fields somehow mysteriously manage to organize work stoppages, MTs never "can." (More like WILL.)
MTs are, in general, a weird bunch. I know because I worked in the field for over 25 years and tried to organize them (loosely, on a smsll scale) several times to no avail.
I think the same traits that make someone a good MT unfortunately work against them. I think MTs are short-sighted, which is one reason so many have either never been to college or never went back to finish. They are all about SHORT-term gain so won't bite the bullet for a long-term gain.
