What happens when you get less than minimum wage? - Anon

I'm worried if I suffer another .03 cent decrease I may drop below minimum wage.  How do we indicate that to somebody?  Is it calculated per pay period - or what?

Happened twice when learning ASR a year ago. - Payroll knows.

Payroll figures it out and they just find out what state you live in and what is your minimum wage and it is all calculated in payroll and will show you on your paycheck.

My state is around 9.00 an hour.

They automatically pay you minimum wage - for your state. nm

They are required and do pay the min wage - SM

They have a Minimum Wage Report they review every payperiod. They have a contract to meet in each state -- sometimes it is federal min wage, sometimes it is state min wage - depending on the contract with each state. If your total gross pay does not equate to minimum wage by contact for your state, they are required to make up the difference.

You should be aware, as it only makes sense anyway, that they will not allow you to repetitively stay on the MWR. At some point, if you are not producing enough work to get off that MWR, you will be gone.

They will start with perf mgmt and progress you right out the door if you don't meet requirements.

Thank you all so much!. With the 40% cut for ASR, and now potentially a 0.03 per line, cut, I could be making 0.03 cents x my required 800 lines per day, that gives me $24 a day. May the Q burn in hell - soon!

That is what I meant and the maximum amount of $100 minimum wage and if you go over you are put on performance management, just like we will be if we go over our percentage for QA submission, line count, working scheduled hours, etc., etc., etc.,

You are only allowed to go up to $100 of minimum wage before you are "out of compliance" and can be put on some sort of watch like when your line count falls below 150 lines per hour. Can't remember the name of it

Here's my CCM's word on the minimum wage $100 limit and lines. As long as you're getting in your required lph, the $100 limit is not enforceable because you're in compliance.

For instance, say you have a 100 lph requirement and you do meet your 8000 lines for the pay period but it's mostly from ASR, the cpl paid is less on that. So, if you get paid more than the $100 minimum wage, they can't find you out of compliance because that's based on your lph, which you met.

As an employer they are required by law to pay minimum wage. The only time they can performance manage you for paying the minimum wage is if you don't meet your lines.

I always make sure I get in my base lines each day. Of course, most days I get in more. However, I'm not going to work my fingers to the bone trying to get in enough ASR lines to equal things out. It makes no sense to as even my straight transcription rate is almost $1 less than my state's minimum wage.

A $15.00 minimum wage would equate to 375 lines per hour at .04 per line. That's 3000 lines a day for an 8 hour day! The best I have ever done was 2700 lines editing in an 8 hour day and that was only once and someplace where I had been doing the same doctors for 6 years. I have heard in various places on these boards that if you are supposed to work full-time and your pay (by the line or character) doesn't equal minimum wage for those hours, you can get unemployment even though you still have a job. I had a couple of ASR reports that were stellar, being of the quality we were promised (of course, not from my usual accounts), and yet, the lph was still around minimum wage (hovering around 200).
