I do not get the reasoning for this at all!! If what MedQ has is highly trained MTs who occasionally need a second pair of ears to confirm a phrase or occasionally come across a term that cannot be found through research...isn't that what QA is for?? And if QA is so overwhelmed by MTs sending them stuff...then I think the answer is MTs that are not qualified to work on their own...not to penalize vilify the MT who does use QA rarely.
I am totally confused on when to use it...if I am uncertain of a phrase or a word...it is up to me to make the judgement that "well..another MT will never get this.." maybe they will (although at least 50-60% of the things I send to QA are left blank as well)..but you know what...40% is filled in...and I even learn something. How do I know "Oh..they'll never get this one." as opposed to "this one they will get." Stupid, Stoopid...Steupitt. Yet another monstrous example of an corporate entity clueless as to the workings of their revenue-producing minions.

What is going to happen to the MT who makes that judgment call that another MT 'is not going to get this' and the client is complaining? You know that MQ will say that it should have been sent to QA, because they would have gotten it. There is no way that they would stand behind their MT and admit that they wouldn't have gotten it either.
Sometimes a second ear is needed to get something. You cannot tell me that someone who works in QA would be able to sit down and go back to being a MT and never have a blank again in their life that someone else might be able to get, not possible.

They don't know how medical transcription works, and keep trying one stupid idea after another in an effort to steal from us to pad their own pockets.
I suspect this latest scheme is gonna lose them a ton of clients because they'll be getting reports that look like Swiss cheese.

We as MTs do not WANT to turn in holey reports. We take pride in our work. But we can't do it without the cooperation of the dictators, and yes, the company we work for. And we won't have THAT at MQ.

Embarrassed to ask this question...but... In applying for MT positions, some applications have a required field for inserting one's resume. The only option in this field is to select "browse." Clicking on this, and then Desktop, reveals my desktop icons, including my resume. Opening this icon automatically populates the field on the application with the info: C:mynamedesktop...etc. I thought that desktop icons were only shortcuts to my documents and not documents in themselves ...

Just one more thought. I have never, ever, known anyone who has left Medquist or Spheris and regretted it. They may bounce back and forth just to get by, but in the long run, when they are finally finished, they are finished. For all of those MTs who don't want to start over, please don't take that attitude. I did and it only got worse and when I did change it wasn't that bad at all. Again, could it get any worse? ...

That's what the dictation sounds like and I've listened to it several times on numerous days. Can't find a reference to it anywhere and I've tried many variations. I do believe now that they are starting to target those of us who were making 10/6. In the past, on my old accounts, I was audited no more than once a month. If I failed an occasional audit, they would wait another month to see how I did on that one and since I always passed, no action was taken. Just had a doctor dictate "potassium 40 mg," (should have been mEq) and then further down, "Levemir 40 mg" (should have been units). If I had not left blanks for them, that would have been 6 points off. It also compelled me to use my allotment of blanks for that report! But they, of course, do not get penalized for their mistakes. On the other hand, our pay is docked. There is a double standard here that needs to be changed. ...
