I put drop cookies in the oven, set the timer for 12 minutes, then race to my computer and type. The timer goes off, I race to the kitchen, take out the cookies, put in more and set the timer again and off I go to my computer to type. I have come to this conclusion:
Drop cookies 12 minutes = enough time for an FU visit, outpatient note or short procedure.
Bar Cookies 30-35 minutes = enough time for a consult, H&P, discharge summary or new patient office note.
Now, this has got to be multi-tasking at its very finest!!

[ In Reply To ..]Except I was dealing with my last ESL operative report and needed time away from the desk to get the jibberish out of my head, so I was baking a birthday cake for my son.
Each time I came back from checking the cake, the doc was easier to understand. Now that I'm done for the day, I can ice it in peace when it's done cooling.

We just moved into this house and now we are having our Christmas for my family at our house this year as my stepdad has cancer and they do not want to mess with it all. I am a brave soul or a dumb soul! I begin my cooking tomorrow so wish me luck. Thank goodness I am good at multitasking!

You know, I think I am typing better and faster without the fear of QA hanging over me. I never thought they were extremely helpful anyways. For those of you who are typing directly into EMR/EHRs, how are you accessing the voice files? Is it coming directly from the EMRs or do you have to grab them separately. The acct I am on, we have "free text cc's." you have to go into a seperate website, search the doc data base for the name and then type that info on the report. You know how long that takes?
