I had a Book external drive at one time. It was great for storing a lot of files and backing up files... that was as far as my "pros" go. Then one day out of the blue, the drive froze up or something and just wouldn't open any files for me. So I essentially lost everything I had on it--my "cons." There are probably other more reliable external drives on the market. I suggest doing your research. Hope this helps. JOS

I have just been thinking about this - came up with better solution

I am going to get two 32GB thumb drives and every other week will back up onto alternating drives my photos and documents/files I don't want to lose. i.e.... A drive on week 1, B drive on week 3, delete A drive on week 5 and download on it again, etc.

I once had an external drive and my computer crashed and it crashed at the same time, or else it crashed and crashed my computer, whatever.... I still lost everything.

You can get a 32MB PNY on Amazon for 12.99 or 14.99 at one of the office stores.. so 2 for under $50.. much less than an external drive.

being a prn employee? I have an upcoming interview at a hospital for an MT job. The job is not through a staffing/employment agency. Who ever gets the job will be an actual hospital employee but will not get any benefits (one disadvantage). I have read so many pros and cons. Running out of work (that's a problem I have right now). Do you think, with the current state of affairs with the MT industry, that it would be worth trying to start a transcription company? I'm torn.
