TransTech advertising for help with acute care? - anon

Posted: Jun 30, 2011

There are new people on accounts that have no work for the people already on them?  Or are they being trained and then moved?  What goes on?  Guess we don't have to know.

TT always has these mysterious "new accounts" coming on - sm

I work second shift and have not had a full paycheck in months, probably 4 months. I am so upset seeing that they are hiring. This is the last straw for me. I have been loyal to TT for 3 years and feel like I am getting the shaft by them. They never tell me about new accounts coming on. They never ask me if I want to switch to other accounts that have work. When I ask them, my emails never get answered. I used to love them but not anymore. I am quitting and they won't even care.

You are not alone. This is why deception has no place in the workforce. - anon

If you say or ask anything, you are a target. Yet in needing more work, I too have even put in for the jobs posted!! Absolutely no response. What is the game? Is it because they know abolutely that they are burning people out and know that the turnover his high because they CAN, so they have to prepare themselves for all those who feel they are taken for granted and can easily be replaced. And why? Because they do not waste time even training you...you learn on your own and by the time it takes to to know the ins and outs of your account....no work...or no work on your shift...so continue to check 24/7 for not even minimum wage. But they still profit. Rules of their game? Only who knows them? They are different for each individual also.

I've been wondering if the audits have something to do with - TTMT2

the hiring?? Are they replacing people let go because of these random audits?? I scored the lowest I've ever scored in my career and a lot of it was for things that I was told if it populates, leave it. Then I got called out for it on audit. Just a thought

I have been at TT for a long time and I am honest when I say - sm

that the past 6 months have been the slowest I have ever seen here. I am a full-time employee but am getting part-time lines. I have never seen it this slow ever! And the emails that we get about it being a slow time of year are laughable. I check my line count for June of 2010, this same time last year, and I had 6000 lines more per pay period. That is a lot! I feel in my gut that something is going on and that I need to prepare myself for future doom.

How about doing what I did? I picked up the phone - Kitty Katz

[ In Reply To ..]
and called and asked why they were hiring when the work is so slow. I was told that they have very specific shifts that need to be filled, mostly later in the evening.

She also reminded me that she sent an email to all MTs a couple of weeks ago (which I do remember) asking for volunteers to switch shifts to fill in these empty spots.

After talking to her, it actually makes sense and I feel better. So before you come on here and try stirring the pot and getting everyone riled up, how about getting your facts straight!

I work one of those shifts that was posted in the email, and I have no work - nm

Pick up the phone..... - Kibbles

So........you believe that?? Guess if that reassured you then all is well.
Kitty--ditto--they could pick up the phone too. - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
Two-way street here. Did you see the shifts? Every weekend and 3rd shift. Maybe too if they called people and said they have no work for you on the shift you have been used to, and they are offering you something. But it was an dark email. What account too if you change shifts? The same one you are on or NOW you are given what? I was told they do not want phone calls, only emails. You are satisfied, good.

Kitty - anonytoo

Do what you did: Picked up the phone and then believed what you were told? Do you think all the posts out here about no work are in error and the person you talked to told you the truth? I guess that is an option, or.....do what I did, leave. The grass really can be greener.
Another thing to add - Tired of being treated badly
[ In Reply To ..]
If you question them too much several things can happen.
1) They just ignore the e-mail anyway.
2) They lie when you call them out on being underhanded and dishonest in how they operate (had this happen ... won't go into specifics because of #3, but the lie was blatant and it was something I was trying to get them to explain to me that was clearly black and white and clearly documented within their system).
3) If you question too much or push too hard, you make yourself a target. They can then go through whatever process they want to get rid of you (citing client complaints, QA eval subpar, etc).

As much as I don't like being treated unfairly and undervalued, I'm also not blind to what is going on with the economy. The answer is not necessarily jumping ship and changing jobs, starting over, new accounts, etc. After many years in this business, I don't really believe there are green pastures left in medical transcription. The only answer for me is to change professions, which is not a quick answer.

Yep-- - Old and Tired MT

I totally agree with #3.
The emails said to cover gaps in schedules. - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I did not interpret it that if those employees who did not take these gap scheuldes, then they would have no work, or maybe they are just 'training' on over-worked accounts and over-staffed schedules and then when tney get trained---usually 1 hour!!---they they will go to the 'gap' schedule.

TransTech Acute Care?
Aug 11, 2011

I see that TransTech just placed an ad for acute care MTs.   I was hoping that someone who currently works there or has worked for them in the past could share how your experience was.   Do you run out of work a lot?   Are they an overall good company to work for and treat their MTs well?   I remember reading in the distant past that a lot of people there were running out of work a lot.   Is this still an issue or a thing of the past?  Any feedback on this company w ...

Why Does Acute Care Have More ESL?
Nov 10, 2012

Acute Care?
Sep 23, 2014

As a relative newbie MT, I'm not certain what "acute care" means. Does it mean basically all reports that are from doctors in the hospital setting? That is, would any hospital operative note, hospital progress note, and all discharge summaries be considered "acute care"? I know a clinic note is basically a note by an outpatient doctor, right? And it's basically about more minor medical problems albeit could be chronic rather than "acute." ...

Working As An MT Acute Care...
Feb 22, 2010

I completed my education with Everett Community College in their Career Step program for MT training in Dec. 2006.  I have been working ever since in a rehab/therapy clinic.  I am the only one who does the transcription for 7 therapists and it is a rather busy office.  I have wanted to find work doing hospital transcription and certainly not from lack of trying to locate work on my part.  What frustrates me is that I was told by my instructors that I should be able to find su ...

Accentus Acute Care

Does anyone know why Accentus Acute Care seems to always have the same job ad hiring for acute care MTs that pays a sign-on bonus?  It seems as though either they never fill these positions or they are so difficult nobody stays.  I would be interested in applying, but the last time I tried to apply with them on the ambulatory side, I could not get the voice file to work.  Is this even worth applying for?  What is their cpl rate and do they pay for spaces?  Thanks for any ...

Acute Care Question
Apr 29, 2013

I've been in transcription since 1998, doing clinic work for about 13 of those, then moving to acute care consisting of H&P, consults, and discharge summaries....but not op notes. I see so many jobs for acute care work, but they only want people who've done all four. My question is, how do you go about learning to do op notes in order to obtain one of those jobs? I've been tempted to fib and say I have experience just to get the job and then figured maybe I could learn on the job ...

RE-TRAIN ACUTE CARE
