TTS - Stay away - Sam

Posted: Feb 04, 2010

Stay away from this place.  They have no technical support and terrible communication. I tried to work with them for 3 weeks and was never able to work without problems.  The owner told unemployment that my issues were normal technical issues, resulting in my benefits being suspended.  I also spent money on software and upgraded my ISP and she's saying I didn't give enough effort! It's been my past experience that when I start with a new company platform that after a few days at most I am up and running. Then again, I've only worked with professional organizations that provide 24/7 technical support.  This place is a joke!!

TTS- no problems with me there - HappyTTSer

[ In Reply To ..]
Strange, you tried to work there for 3 weeks and then tried to draw unemployment then? I have always been able to have any problems addressed right away and the owner was the very one to help me out. If a computer issue, then that is on me and I took care of that. My software was loaded on, by the company. I never had to buy any software. I have nothing but praise for this place.

Consider yourself lucky then... - Sam

[ In Reply To ..]
The owner insisted that I use Word 2007 (which I had to buy) and everyone I knew who worked there used Word 2003. I also changed my anti-virus software at her suggestion which I had to pay for AND I upgraded from DSL to cable to no avail.

Here is one that worked there not using 2003 - So guess you did not know everyone

[ In Reply To ..]
It is up to you if you are not up to date on software used. I guess if your computer went on the blink you expect them to fix that also? From what you are saying, the issues seem to rest more on your end than theirs. I also got new anti-virus but being as they are the ones in the know, I figure it was money well spent and would protect me that much more.
My computer didn't "go on the blink." - Sam

and after 3 weeks of not being able to send reports...I've worked from home since 1996 and have never experienced anything so ridiculous. Not to mention, any "professional" company who doesn't provide 24/7 technical support is over their head. Karma happens...she's in for it!
Sounds like - sm - sour grapes to me!
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't think we are working at the same place. I have never had a problem, the owner is great and VERY helpful, as well as the rest of the support staff. Maybe you just couldn't cut it so had to blame someone. I would highly recommend this place. No problems whatsoever here EVER! If that's all you can complain about then it sounds like YOU have a problem...not them.
Oh okay... - Sam
[ In Reply To ..]
Yeah, after 3 weeks and still not being able to send reports...that's reasonable. My bad. Just because you didn't experience problems doesn't mean jack. You were fortunate. End of story.
I love my job at TTS. No problems. - PattiCakes

Glad for you - Sam
[ In Reply To ..]
and if after 3 weeks were you still not able to work, send reports or make a decent living my guess is that you would have given up like I did! My MT friends couldn't believe how long I hung in there and all I did to try and work for her. It was BS and the lack of technical support is the reason why it didn't work out!
Does not sound like lack of support for you but - Lin
[ In Reply To ..]
rather on your end. TTS has always been there to assist me. I think you had issues on your end that you thought a company should do for you. Technical support is great, in fact the owner can about do it all herself and has for me.
I think you and I work for the same company and same account. - lka
[ In Reply To ..]
Do you run out of work? If you are who I think you are (we have e-mailed in the past), you told me you NEVER run out of work. I have been on the same account as you (starts with a P) and getting e-mails everyday there is no work. Would you know why? Also, why would they invest in training me and then all of a sudden no work? I just do not get it. I have proven myself over and over again with my QA over 98% and most times over 99%. I am dependable, lots of experience, no work though. I also hear they are continuing to hire. I ask myself why when they already have good MTs like myself. Any insight you could provide would be much appreciated for this MT who needs to have a steady income.
Someone else - Sam
[ In Reply To ..]
Unfortunately, I was never able to WORK enough in order to run out of work. In 3 weeks I grossed about $500...big bucks there!! Doesn't surprise me about having no work and yet them continuing to hire. There clearly is a management issue and I believe it comes from the top.
Isn't it strange - sm - Loving my job
[ In Reply To ..]
that you are the only one I've ever seen with this kind of complaint about them. Something funny there. IF I have a problem it's fixed immediately.
There are many complaints on archives about TTS - Sam
[ In Reply To ..]
I won't say what is said, but there are specific complaints about the owner. Funny how no one has responded to my question. If after THREE WEEKS you were still unable to send reports, resolve technical issues and make a decent living, would you continue on?? HELL NO! I did ALL I could and the fact that you don't see that speaks volumes about your grasp of reality.

ANYONE who thinks 3 weeks is a reasonable startup period! - Sam
[ In Reply To ..]
The fact of the matter is that I should have not accepted the job when I realized they had no IT department. So glad many of you love your job and are so very delighted; however, if you had gone through what I did, you would have a different perspective! I made myself available for 3 weeks, waiting by the phone, IM, emails, etc. I grossed about $500...was available several times as they streamed into my PC. The remaining staff, trainers, assistants were wonderful. It was just their lack of technical support and poor communication.
I just can't understand - - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
that you seem to be the ONLY one with this problem. Do you realize you are the only one complaining. I think if it was their problem we'd see more people siding with you...but they aren't. I think you are a complainer and just not a good match for the company. Obviously no merit in what you're saying.
So, what you're saying is... - Sam
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm just a complainer for continually trying to work with them for 3+ weeks without success, only grossing $500 and finally moving on? I don't call that complaining, I call it a bad experience that I'm choosing to share in case anyone is considering moving to tts. THAT IS WHAT THIS FORUM IS FOR!! Save your insults for someone who gives a crap what you think!!
To Sam - RLee
[ In Reply To ..]
I truly believe you believe you are right because you are so upset by the situation. Everyone has different experiences with different companies. I on the other hand did apply at TTS a few weeks back and they had no openings in my speciality. Yes, I agree you have the right to voice your opinion, as does everyone else. I am sure people are getting tired of hearing me complain about Transcend, but at least I am not the only one that feels the same way I do. I wish you luck.
Finally! - Sam
[ In Reply To ..]
Thank you for understanding that my experience was real and I am simply sharing. I hope there truly are many happy tts people and I wish them continued success. Again, I am simply sharing my "nightmare" so others can be well informed; hence, the forum. Best of luck to you.

Experienced similar problems at a different company with crummy tec support. Am now working for MTSO that provides equipment and has genuine 24/7 tec support. Your account is completely understandable as anyone who has experienced a similar situation would know.

I have kept at bay about the owner of this company who is not above posting here about how wonderful her company is. After having lived through start up with her and having nothing but problems and then finding out all the spyware that was placed on the machines and that blinking system they used to have you working in I finally just could not deal with her and her lying and favoritism. She is a train wreck and we lost as many as we hired. It is the only job I have ever really hated and been around for quite some time. Sam, you are spot on about this lunatic and you will be better off somewhere else and there are places who will treat you professionally but none of them are Escription houses. Look for a smaller situation with stable work and normal people. They are out there.

[ In Reply To ..]
I have gone back through and re-read the posts and I do find it a little odd how much every LOVES their job. In this business, the word LOVE rarely comes up when describing their jobs. Most of the time, it is just a job that you either like or dislike doing. Too many TTSs LOVE their jobs. That sounds a little "off" to me.
Blondie, if that is your name, you and original hmmm - TTSer
[ In Reply To ..]
You might smell a rat, but I really know one here, not just smelling. I love my work because the owner leaves ME alone. You see I work when I am supposed to, I do not bother others trying to gain information from them on their work time, I get paid on time, I have no one breathing down my neck about how I do my work and by the way, I not only do my work but do it well. If you think some of us are shills, that is on you. I have never "loved" a job like this one. I am able to breathe. It would not be a good fit for a person who is tried on 1 acct, fails there and then tries another and still cannot make it. Need I say more?
I totally agree - great place to work!!! - sm

I WAS NEVER ABLE TO WORK AND IN 3 WEEKS I GROSSED A LITTLE OVER $500!! I COULD NOT AFFORD TO CONTINUE ON MAKING SUCH LITTLE MONEY DUE TO TECHNICAL ISSUES ON THEIR END! I never got to the friggin point where I was able to work. I am tickled to death that you are, however. Do not make it sound like I'm lazy and just gave up! HELLO!!!!!!
Sorry it didn't work out for you - sm - Fiona

Now that I'm thinking about it, this means I wasn't even paid minimum wage. Is this even legal?? Wow!!!

Sam, and by the way I know who you are - by reading these posts

[ In Reply To ..]
Maybe you did not make minimum wage there because you are not up to par. I work there and make much more than the minimum wage. You have decided to take your issues on this post and others trying to get people to be against this company as well as others who work for TTS. You have worked on more than 1 account for this company and did not make it on either one. Before you are left with no job at all, I would suggest maybe you take your anger out in a more positive way by trying to brush up on your skills as a transcriptionist rather than down the company who has tried to work with you, either that or go onto another place where you could sit and stew again about how unfair a company is when you should just look in the mirror for your answers as to why things go wrong. Checking one's attitude is a good start.
I will be checking on something, but will not be my attutude - Sam
[ In Reply To ..]
If there had been an actual IT department (like any professional MTSO should) I would be up and running. I was taken off 100% QA within a day so your insults DO NOT FLY!! Perhaps you should be looking in the mirror and asking youself if you have what it takes.
Taken off QA and yet cannot cut the mustard - with that line count, huh?
[ In Reply To ..]
That says a lot, not making minimum wage, again tells me a lot for a company where you can make it okay if you have what it takes, such as in my case. Never made minimum there.
Sam, isn't it funny, YOU are the only - nm - one complaining about this????

Some person tried to air dirty laundry against another person who worked for TTS and the post was removed. They were unable to get people on their side. Why I Stay
Aug 23, 2010

As much as I hate it here, I feel like I am trapped here. I am getting ready for major surgery and need the insurance. I can't afford to go to another co. and wait for insurance to kick in, plus "pre-existing condition" worries. I could just sit and cry when I start work. NJA and helper pools for hours, plus I don't feel well.  Flame me if you want (usually someone does), tell me how lucky I am to have a job with insurance. I really am beyond caring. Okay, just my private pity p ...

Should I Stay Or Should I Go ?

So, the long and short of it.  I have been an IC for the last 15 years.  I have typed for orthopods, general practioners, neurologists, dermatologists, and have done 2 years of acute care (both in-house and at home).  After transplanting to TX and losing my full-time job in MI, I've been searching for that "perfect" transcription job.  I love being an MT .... love the work, the flexibility, etc ... and have been told on many occasion that I am good at what I do ...

Stay Or Go?

Having a hard time deciding whether I should continue working for MM until they go under and have to lay off everyone and I could collect unemployment or if I should just leave, thereby leaving behind all the stress and frustration that I feel daily. Stay Employed At TTS

So, from what I understand, to stay employed at TTS, you basically have to just work and agree with mgmt at all times?  Never question them on anything?  Is that the only thing they are concerned about??!!  No one has ever mentioned how they feel about production met or not, etc.  Not that meeting production would be a problem for me, but if they don't care about that, it makes me wonder what kind of company they are running if all they care about is being right and not being questioned ...

If You Stay In MT Long Enough, You
Jan 07, 2012

I was just reading the BOS3, which (unfortunately, as it DECIMATES the rules of proper English) more and more employers are adhering to these days.  VERY disturbing.  They want only ONE (oh, excuse me -- 1) space after periods and other punctuation marks (colon, etc.)  This will, of course, CUT YOUR LINE COUNT.
