Best companies/platforms/pay - looking

Posted: Mar 04, 2014

I know this has been asked before, but I wanted something a little more current. I'm doing a survey to get input for the vast number of MTs (including myself) who are looking for work, and are discouraged by the lack of optimism on the boards (albeit not unfounded).  If anyone has anything good to say about their company, platform, pay, or anything else they might find helpful, please respond and let us know what you like about it.  Also, to narrow the search, whether your platform is productive.  TIA

Good luck with that - Just sayin...

We are all searching for Nirvana.

NUANCE IS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO WORK. - I have not one good thing to say about them.

[ In Reply To ..]
They are greedy with their pay. They mistreat their MLSs with their punitive QA practices. They disrespect MLSs by not providing ANY holiday pay while they give generous holiday and PTO pay to TSMs and anyone else higher up the ladder. Most everyone I know is looking to get out of the business, but particularly looking to get away from Nuance ASAP. Even their cryptic empty promise for better things to happen in the 3rd quarter is not going to help. If they want to retain people, they need to do something NOW.

NUANCE SUCKS - ANONMT

I agree, and IMHO I don't see anything changing for the better. One would think by now after all the negativity here as well as many other sites, including businesses, their poor employee retention, morale, etc that if they cared, changes would have happened LONG before now. IMHO, they are the worst! And open communication? HA! Try discussing the cherry picking and other things and see how things go from bad to worse in less than a day and remain so!

NUANCE CEO SALARY IN 2012 WAS $37 MILLION. - It will probably be double this year.

We know they can afford to give us back the money they stole. If they want their company to remain solvent, they need to treat us with respect and give us back what they took.

respect a thing of the past - looking

I just had an interview with IMedx. They offered me 7.5/3.75 for an IC position! I took it because I don't have anything else at the moment and need to eat, but disgusted that an MT of 8 years cannot do better than that. Should I negotiate for more and take a chance of losing the job altogether???
You won't get more - Alik

We aren't worth it to them. We aren't real.
pay - me
[ In Reply To ..]
I've been an MT for 18 years, at a different company, and offered .08 2 years ago and this acct. consistently has no work and to get a 2nd acct. with them, all are now only paying 0.750 (IC)- you probably won't find much better - and I would rather take that than put up with all the *** being an employee, timeclock, etc.
IC/employee - looking
[ In Reply To ..]
True, but with Obamawreck coming down the pipeline, I would prefer an employee position with benefits... Nobody seems to really know where that will lead, or leave those of us that have no insurance. :(
Try 35 years. It's demoralizing. sm - sad MT

I've been a long time acute care/teaching hospital in-house MT, plus have had my own hospital accounts, my own clinic accounts, my own surgery center accounts, and now the best I can do is 8 cpl with people half my age doing QA on my work. Like I said, demoralizing.
Try 40+ years and 6 and 3 cents per line - n/m

No one is going to tell you where they work - if they are happy there

[ In Reply To ..]
They are always quick to say that good companies do exist, but when pressed for more information on said companies they refuse to give an answer and state "the company isn't hiring now and doesn't want to be inundated with resumes" or "you need to do your own research," not taking into account that coming here and asking is research.

You're wasting your time.

dubious - about

real reason for this inquiry.

Best companies/platforms/pay - looking

[ In Reply To ..]
That's true, and I can't say as I blame them really, if they want job security, but maybe they can at least give some names of productive platforms so we can do our own research and find companies that use them. The worst is to get a new job and find that the platform is useless! THE WORST! Then ppl really doesn't matter anyway.

My feeling is, if it is a truly good company, they won't overhire sm - JMO

and you'd be safe telling people about your great "find." However, one man's treasure is another man's junk, so it is really hard to just say XYZ is a great company, because it might be great for you, but 10 others will trash it. I have 4 jobs, and 1 is a tiny little MTSO who indeed has asked that I not give out her name, but the other 3 are companies with 100-200 employees and I am happy, for the most part, except OTI. As you can see by the postings, work is nonexistent there. Good luck.
Bunch of cranky people out there with the dislikes. nm - LOL

Please do explain, WHY someone should give out a company name - when it does you no good to have it. SM

[ In Reply To ..]
Why have a company name - If they are not hiring?

Why have that name - If the owner does not have time or does not want to wade through hundreds of resumes she did not even ask for?

If I were an owner, I'd be pretty upset receiving all those resumes unasked for and that would make me NOT want to hire those kind of people.

What possible good do those company names do you under those circumstances? Please do explain.

You're a selfish whiner who wants a free ride on everyone else's research, is what it seems like. I'm glad I'm not an owner who could get stuck hiring someone like you.

Well... - sm

Try Amphion. Some may hate them, some may not. It's all in perspective. I know they are hiring right now. They use ichart and Triton platforms (function keys) and pay starts at 8/4. Decent insurance rates for singles (family went up alot in 2014). Vision and dental too. HSA. PTO. PT 25 hours. FT 35 hours. Just got another account and are out of TAT. Line count minimum requirement every PP. QA is 98.8%. Training is 90 days paid $10/hr then production pay only after that.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I don't have a problem with Amphion per se, I just don't want to be an editor anymore and am trying to get another job. I want to transcribe (which we all know is never going to happen anymore) so I'm looking for a non-MT job BUT that's just me. You may love them. Good luck!

How Long Does It Take Nuance To Convert Platforms To Their Methods On Companies And Accounts Acquire
Sep 24, 2013

My company was acquired by Nuance a few months back and so far the only thing that has changed has been e-mail addresses.  Paystubs even still reflect our original company name.  Will they keep our proprietary platform or make us change to eScription soon?  Also, we're all ICs.  Does anyone know if we will be required to become Nuance employees at the first of the year?  ...

Platforms?
Jun 23, 2010

Could somebody explain to me what a platform is? I am being asked what kind of platforms I am familiar with and I'm not sure what they are looking for here. I have always done my reports in Word or Clarus in Windows XP, received my files via the internet through an FTP or through digital voice through a C-phone, and used only a SmartType word expander as addition software. I know this sounds like such a dumb question, but I am really not sure what I am looking for here. Thanks much! ...

Employers' Platforms
May 14, 2011

Has anyone here turned down a job with an MTSO because their platform is crappy? My employer's platform is TERRIBLE!!  You have go through 15 mouse commands (no hot keys!) to perform the simplest function such as signing off a job.  I have never seen more inefficient software in my life!!  Of course, since they own it now they claim it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.... Would love to hear your platform stories!! ...

Confusion About Platforms?
Mar 04, 2012

This is probably clear as day to most and may belong in the tech forum, but I'm going to try here first.  I notice that Nuance owns eScription. Okay, got that.  In their ads, they are not compatible with satellite nor wireless internet. Okay, got that.  What I do not have is why a completely different company is telling me that eScription is compatible with satellite internet? Just an FYI, this has nothing to do with Nuance. I am not going to work for them and know nothing a ...

GIS Re IKM/Scribe Platforms
Mar 10, 2013

I have trained on the above platform and now have doubts about the above platforms.  It seems to me it would be very difficult using these 2 platforms.  Going through all the steps that you have to go through just to get 1 report done seems like a very long process.  I have worked on the IKM platform on another job and it didn't seem that bad to me, but I find using these 2 together would make it impossible to produce a good line count.  Is this just my problem or does a ...

Question About Platforms With Satellite
Nov 03, 2010

There seem to be a lot of companies that say no dial-up or satellite.  BUT I've heard from other MTs that use the same platform for another company on satellite and it's fine.  Escription is one example.  Can anyone tell me why that might be?  I have only satellite and am very limited on who I can work from.
