After reading about cuts in line rate at Transcend and now mandatory - Conf.Calls tomorrow...

I'm waiting for the shoe to drop.

My thoughts exactly -- sm - MT2Long

If it's not a rate cut, my second guess would be a switch in our platform. I think some of the accounts have already switched over.

If it is a rate cut, I am so outta here!

Any other thoughts?

Did you check both - MT2Long

your personal email and your company email. I got the 1 notice from my primary on my personal and then a notice from secondary on the company email. I don't think all TLs have switched over to the personal email yet.

What would you do if they said they were moving their HQ to India, which would be the new hub of operations?

hope someone will update us on the calls later - sm

I came in through MDI. My primary is on the Escription platform, which is now managed by Transcend and not an MDI team lead. All 3 of my backup accounts are on Bayscribe and I got an email yesterday for each of them that they are all having conference calls tomorrow (that would be today, now) for their primaries. My guess is pay cut but could be a BeyondTXT announcement (dumping Bayscribe), although one of those accounts is already transitioning to BeyondTXT. I hope someone will update us later. I'm out of the loop on this one since my primary is not on Bayscribe.

How about an update on the conference call? - Robbie

Can anyone update us as to what happened on the conference calls?
Nothing big this time - sm

Just the hitech/hipaa stuff and how it affects our jobs. Required training in the future on it.
that's a relief - thanks (nm)

I haven't gotten any notice about conf call tomorrow sm - Wish it was still MDIer

but you can bet it will be a rah-rah call about how lucky we are to have jobs, blah, blah, blah. To be honest, they make me ill with their spin doctoring.

Wish it was still MDI - Skeptic

Ask the former head of MDI how she is enjoying her 16M when others cannot make enough lines to keep insurance. Just sayin.

Yea, I know... I mean MDI before she sold us all out. nm - Wishing

Heck, ask the current head of Transcend if he enjoys his annual half mill - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
And **** her $412,500 annually. The 4 top people in Transcend are making $1,305,000 annually. That's not counting *** and all the other managers.

I guess in view of all that, it makes perfectly good sense why they HAVE to cut our rates and offer crap insurance. The economy is SO bad after all. (excuse me while I puke)

Are you a former MDIer or were you with Transcend before the merge? - Curious

That the shoe may be getting ready to fall. I know it's certainly not a surprising thing in this day and age, and certainly in this industry, but it really makes my stomach sick to hear rumors of a line rate cut and all this yada, yada, yada about competition and keeping up with the industry, and then to see that the upper crust vote themselves a pay raise in January 2010 to the tune of $830,000.00 total salary per year between THREE people, plus the possibility of another $475,000.00 in BONUS money. Bonus money for what, riding the back of the little guy. Again, doesn't surprise me here, doesn't surprise me anywhere in big business, just a little sobering to see it in print and know you can't do a thing about it. I'm a huge fan of my faith and what does the Good Book say in 1 Timothy - people would become lovers of themselves and lovers of money ....... how true, how true.

I'm with you, sideline. All the signs are so obvious. - faithful

... but may be helpful.

My team did NOT get any e-mails about pay cuts.

We do have a conference call scheduled for tomorrow, but the topic has been announced in advance this time, possibly because I have complained in the past that every time we are told to show up for a conference call with no hint of what it might be about, I break out in a rash....

The topic for tomorrow is to be productivity tips and tricks with the productivity trainer/expert in BeyondTXT (whose name I won't mention because we aren't supposed to mention people by name on here). We were told clear back when our accounts migrated over to that platform, we would eventually have a meeting with her, in addition to the periodic e-mails that she sends out with tips and tricks.

I contacted the employee advocate when somebody first mentioned getting an e-mail about line rate cuts. She told me it is NOT company-wide, and only applies to a few particular accounts where the client has requested a rate reduction. (Translation: Lower our rate or we go elsewhere.) Yeah, that stinks big time. No, it (apparently) hasn't happened to me yet, and I really, really hope it doesn't. But I live in the real world, and my options are always open, although I really, really try very hard not to get exercised about things over which I have no control, and that may never happen. (I don't always succeed. Those of you who have been around for a while know this.)

I will be interested to see what others have to say about the topic(s) of their scheduled conference calls, so please keep us posted.

No big deal, just announcing new team leads on some accts - Me

Mandatory OT/pay-per-line OT Rules
Jul 24, 2013

Our department was recently "onboarded" by a transcription service where we are now paid by the line.  We have had several days where we had "mandatory OT" where the boss would email and tell everyone they needed to do 1.5 hours of OT that day.  In my state, VT, the law says if you are required to work over 8 hours in a day you have to be paid OT pay.  Does anyone know how this works for pay-by-line work?  I know many of the practices of this company are questionable and ...

Line Rate For 65 Printable Character Line
Jul 19, 2011

When a company states a line rate for  a "65 printable character line" does that mean they do not pay for spaces?    I saw an ad saying they pay the highest in the business, which was about 8.5 cents for 65 printable character line.  That to me says without spaces, as it is not a printable character, so that would be a horrible rate surely not one of the best in the business.  Wonder why there is no respect for our thumbs !!!!   ...

PT Line Rate Cut
Nov 25, 2009

I  know a lot of us wonder what the reason is for PT status MTs to lose 1/2 cpl.  We have been told that it is because at some point we could possibly switch to FT.  If our bank, where we have our checking and savings accounts would send us a letter telling us that starting next month we would have to start paying $200 per month for our house payment, even though we do not own a house, but this was just in case some day we might, I think we would all tell that bank they were nuts ...

LINE RATE FOR VR?

Hi.  I used to work for MQ when they started VR.  The original pay cut was 20% of CPL.  I know it is much lower now.  What are they currently paying for VR.  Not interested in coming back but just curious.  I left when they took away our primary accounts and started to send us reports from God Knows Where...Each report from a different account.  Do they still do that also?  Thanks in advance. ...

ASR Line Rate?
Feb 04, 2012

I was told that if they have to keep supplementing your paychecks to get you to mini wage then they will have to take action.  What is the logic here?  On the accounts that I work on I have yet to break 160 lines an hour and mostly stay around 150. I swear it just can't be done.  All I get is ASR.... so here is the math... 150X.04 (I think) = $6.40 The requirement to keep my job is only 120, so really I am doing 40 more lines than I should.  Here is what I need to ...

Line Rate?
Mar 20, 2014

I just got laid off after 9 years of getting paid by the hour.  At the end I was making $12.50 per hour that was with a large pay cut I got last year.   I have no clue of what is a good line rate and how much that approximately equals per hour.  I have read posts saying people are making mininum wage.  What rate should I look for and how much per hour would that be for part time work? ...

TTS Line Rate
Feb 18, 2015

The last I heard TTS was paying .0342 CPL for editing.  Is this still the case?   I tried to calculate extra for headers that I understand TTS pays for, but that would only amount to about $1.65 per day, not even enough for a box of Top Ramen!   I'm curious if anyone has insisted on more.   Also interested in what you think of the platform used for oncology. Offered VBC Line Rate
Jan 07, 2011

I have been offered a position for 0.08 VBC line/65 characters.  I can obviously figure this is going to be less than with spaces.  Is there anyone here who DOES get paid this way and if so, how much of a difference overall is it?  I have not accepted the position and am not sure how offended I should be, or if I should be offended at all since "this is the new industry standard."  I have been in this buisness a long time and have apparently never dealt with this "new" way of ...
