Maybe Tigan?

Best site I've found for med names, and I agree, probably Tigan... - Vikefan

Here's the web site. I think it's miles ahead of other drug sites I've seen but there are probably others here who have really good drug sites too, probably some even better. At this site, I also signed up for E-mail alerts for any new indications for drugs or if they're being pulled off the market, etc. It's great, IMO. It's also rather disturbing because you really start to realize that our FDA really isn't quite as thorough as you might think. I do a lot of reading on that kind of stuff and if you do some investigative work on it, you'll realize that our FDA doesn't exactly have the greatest track record in the world. Long story, for another post. Anyway, the site is:

http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/drugsatfda/

I agree, it's probably Tigan. The closesthing I can find to Tigan is Ticar (I really wish these drug companies wouldn't come up with names that are so close to each other). I'm sure a few of you read my Losec/Lasix/Prilosec post that I posted this morning and the mixups that Losec and Lasix caused. The problem with those two also was that the dosing is very very similar. At least with Zantac and Xanax, we know that no sane doctor would prescribe 150 mg of Xanax for his patient or write a script for 0.5 mg of Zantac.

Anyway, the "Ticar" is an injectable and in all my years of doing MT, I've never heard of it. According to one web site, it's a "penicillin antibiotic". Hmmm. Wonder if it's just really old and rarely used or if it's really new.

I pity drug reps when the come into doctor's offices when I'm in the waiting room. I always ask them what they carry. Having worked for doctors for so long, I can pick out a drug rep from miles away. Back in the 90's, we used to get free lunches every day of the week from reps who were plugging their drugs. I got quite an education. Anyway, from the rep grilling in Dr.'s offices, I've actually learned about a couple of new meds this way in the past. I do tell them what I do for a living first before I start grilling them.

thanks for the FDA link...nm - fda
