s/l A and A with chondroplasty - orthohelp

Posted: Dec 11, 2013

I can't wrap around what "A and A" would mean, but this is what he says, "We will set him up for an A&A of his left knee with chondroplasty." I found ANA, but he is clearly saying "and". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Appreciate the suggestion, but doc says A&A clearly - orthohelp

EUA would make sense, though. I'm trying to think of what A&A would stand for with chondroplasty. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure as I didn't think you could have both at the same time. I thought one is a clean out procedure (arthroscopy) and the other is a replacement (arthroplasty)?

If you are certain you hear A&A maybe it means - anesthesia and arthroscopy

I have typed ortho for 18 years and have never heard of A&A but maybe this is just something he says and it is not necessarily a medical term if you will.
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind :) - orthohelp

I sent it to QA because I've never heard of it as well.

working on ortho surgery.  CANNOT find this word.  Have researched for literally HOURS. Only know it must be some kind of tool or procedure....grrrr. "[s/l  NOTHING I CAN MAKE OUT!] was used to smooth the unstable cartilaginous flap on the tibial plateau. "   Thanks in advance.   Barb ...
