proBNP - level

Posted: Nov 20, 2012

Having a major brain farct here:

Dictated "proBNP was thirty-seven five hundred and twenty-four"

How is this transcribed, not sure if its 37,524 or if this is 2 different numbers?  Sorry just not thinking straight right now and google is of no assistance.

I believe this is a range so would be 37-524 - sm

BNP

Immunochemiluminometric assay (ICMA)

– Fully automated method (ADVIA Centaur®)

– Utilizes a capture antibody specific for the C-terminal end of BNP-32 and a detection antibody
specific for the intramolecular ring structure of BNP-32

– Bound BNP separated from free via streptavidin-coated magnetic particles

– Quantitation based on the relative light units (RLU) produced in a chemical reaction

Analytical sensitivity: 4 pg/mL

Analytical specificity: no cross-reactivity with ANP, CNP (7-28), or NT-proBNP (1-76)

Reportable range: 4 – 4200 pg/mL

Synonyms: brain natriuretic peptide; BNP

proBNP, N-terminal

Immuno(electro)chemiluminescence assay (ICMA)

– Utilizes two different polyclonal sheep NT-proBNP antibodies (one labeled with biotin and the other

labeled with ruthenium)

– Bound NT-proBNP separated from free via streptavidin-coated magnetic microparticles

– Quantitation based on the RLU produced in an electrochemical reaction between ruthenium and tri-

propylamine (TPA)

Analytical sensitivity: 10 pg/mL

Analytical specificity: no cross-reactivity with ANP, BNP, or CNP; no interference from hemoglobin (<1.4 g/dL), triglyceride (<4000 mg/dL), bilirubin (<35 mg/dL), biotin (<30 ng/dL), rheumatoid factors (<1500 IU/mL) or heterophilic antibodies

Reportable range: 10–35,000 pg/mL

Synonyms: NT-proBNP; N-terminal, pro-B-type natriuretic peptide; N-terminal, pro-brain natriuretic peptide; Elecsys® proBNP

Pro T BNP Versus ProBNP
Oct 05, 2010

I have a couple of dictators who regularly say pro T BNP, which makes no sense to me.  The values are usually up in the high thousands, as proBNP would be.  Has anyone else had a dictator say that?  I can't find this anywhere, and if it was just one dictator I would think she's just making a mistake, but there are two, (both of them NPs, I think), dictating discharge summaries.  I don't even know how I should type it, but I usually go proTBNP, and, of course, m ...

Anti-proBNP?
Dec 18, 2014

I am familiar with NT-proBNP, but had QA change it to anti-proBNP for the first time today. Is there an anti-proBNP lab value?  I have searched resources, but can't find any information anywhere that would be considered a reliable source. Manager is off today, but I am hoping to get some infor before I come across this lab value again today.   Thanks! ...
