Shortcuts for pharmacologic & pharmacotherapy - Mary

I am working really hard on expanding my shortcuts to save time. So, 3-word phrases such as "thanks in advance" are "TIA", and 2-word phrases use the first 2 letters of each of the 2 words, such as "lesh" for left shoulder. What do I do with single words? That's the general question.

My second question has to do with specific single words, "pharmacotherapy" and "pharmacologic". What would you put in your auto-correct options to make those words a short cut? TIA! :)

I think it depends on how you can remember them yourself. I have literally thousands in mine. My left shoulder is lsh and right shoulder is rs. For double words, I use the most prominent letters. For example, abnormal alignment is abag. But it all depends on which letters you are able to remember. I even have complete sentences that are repeated over and over, as "he was diagnosed with a fracture and referred here for followup" is hwdwafar. Pharmacotherapy and pharmacologic would be phty and phcc but that's just what I would be able to remember. To each her own. :)

How do we handle a 2-word phrase that spells a word? For instance, I cannot use "blot" for "bloody otorrhea". What are some logical alternatives? Hope these are not stupid questions. But you all have great ideas, and I am trying to improve my shortcut data base in a local fashion. TIA -

There might be some better suggestions but the way I handle that is to just add an extra letter. For example, I can't use bus for Bartholin's, urethra and Skene's glands, so I just add the extra letter k on Skene's. I do use blob for bladder or bowel as blob is a rarely used word. I just add an extra letter and then I can use lots of short cuts that I normally couldn't. For bloody otorrhea, I would use bloto. Everyone has their own system. That's mine. :)

figure out how to abbreviate your base word add "g" for ing, "m" for ment, "d" for ed, "j" for tion, etc.

What about words ending in "ology" - Mary

I am trying to learn as many shortcuts as possible to get faster on M-Modal VR. Anyone out there with any tips or shortcuts could you please share?? So far I have been using: CTRL shift "I" - Slow down dictation. CTRL "I" - Speed up dictation. CTRL and arrow keys. CTRL Shift "H" for heading toggle. CTRL Shift "A" for caps toggle. Does anybody know what the keyboard shortcuts are to stop and start audio playback in DQS?
