Poker chip fixation? - WestCoast MT
Posted: Dec 01, 2009
Sounds like he is saying the indentation from the poker chip is gone. Poker chip? Is that some sort of fixation technique for fractures? I've never heard of it.

Current external fixation system designs vary, but generally include a mechanism for attaching at least one fixation element to a fixation component to form a construct, or frame, to support a fracture. In general, at least one pin or wire is drilled into the bone.
One current external fixation component design includes two clamps that rotate in one plane to allow limited manipulation of the external fixation component. One jaw of each clamp of this design includes a toothed chip mechanism that has asurface with teeth similar to a poker chip. The teeth mate and lock when compressed, and thereby resist rotation in one plane after the clamps are in place. This poker chip design requires that the two fixation elements retained by the component are parallel to each other in at least one plane that is parallel to the poker chip surface, so that the angular relationship between the two fixation elements is always zero in that plane.
Has anyone ever heard of a chip that may be implanted, possibly for pain? This patient has low back pain, colitis, sleep disorder, fibromyalgia, cerebral palsy, and OA. All that is dictated about this chip is s/l "ENS chip. No MRI." The first letter doesn't have to be an E...it could be any letter with the E sound...I found a couple of letters that worked with as a chip, but none that specifically said they have been implanted into a person. ...
The CT scan i s referring to the patient's ankle.
CT scan shows no acute fractures or malalignment. No s/l lun renited chip of the tip of the lateral malleolus, but she is asymptomatic there. Otherwise, there is a negative CT scan of the ankle. tia. ...
I am doing a report on a surveillance cystoscopy and bladder washings.
The doctor says: Bimanual exam shows no mass, (___), or fixation though she does have a grade 2-3 rectocele and grade 1 cystocele.
It s/l the word starts with a "g." Sort of like generous or genitous?
Any ideas?
Thanks so much. ...

Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, mt ...
Dictated: "The patient is status post (s/l X slash 6 assisted) IMN in October."
I know of IMN fixation, but I can't figure out the X/6 or X-6 before it. I don't think she means times 6. Any thoughts? ...
