Need gastro word help....please ! - Di

I've been typing for two gastro docs for 13 years. They recently hired another physician with a very heavy accent and I'm having trouble with his dictation. His dictation is completely different than the other two physicians who stick to one basic format.

The first report is a colonoscopy:

A moderate amount of liquid stool was noted within the colon. Aggressive _______ (sounds like "vollage") was attempted but the stool did not clear adequately.

The second report is an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy:

A hiatal hernia was noted, both on ______(sounds like "foregoing") and retroflexion within the stomach.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !! Thanks !

Sometimes you just have to walk away from the dictation and ask for some advice. I sat listening to those phrases over and over and over and I was getting frustrated. This doc has such a thick accent and he just started this past week so I'm not familiar with him yet. I'm so glad I asked for help. After reading the posts, I went back to the dictation the pieces of the puzzle all fit !! Thank you so very much for all your help !

Aggressive (pulsatile?) lavage, or maybe he just said "lavage."

Hiatal hernia noted both on forthgoing and retroflexion. Guessing this is the dictation style of the GI doc, but could be wrong. Pretty sure about "lavage", though.

The gastro docs that I type for hired a new doctor about two months ago. He has an extremely heavy accent. Though I am getting used to him, I still get stuck at times. I'm typing a gastroscopy report and I'm at a loss for two words. Any help would really be appreciated. Is there a way in AutoCorrect (Word 2010) to change a comma to a period and then cap the next word to make VR go a little faster? The platform at my old company did this automatically, but MS Word does not : ( This is so frustrating having to change from a comma to a period (or vice versa)--which as you all know happens constantly...and then change the next word to be capitalized (or uncapped)....my wrists are killing me, not to mention it takes so much TIME..... I will be changing from Word 2000 to Word 2003 and have a few questions. I am not that great at figuring tech stuff out so hopefully someone will be able to help me.
