HbA1c or HgA1c? - Sunshine

Which is correct?? And how is it capitalized? I have a laboratory reference book ordered, but right now all I have to look this up is Google! Any help appreciated!

I know for sure she did not dictate that... she dictated HbA1c, but I have a relative who is a nurse arguing with me telling me it is HgA1c... it is def. not HgbA1c, I can't find that anywhere, even on Google. Any other help?

I am certain the test is the above, but go by account specifics if they want it verbatim. My accounts are not verbatim and the preference where I work is to spell it out as above. It is to determine if blood sugars have been maintained in an adequate range. I googled it and did find HbA1c listed as the abbreviation for hemoglobin A1c, and the link for that was with Medline Plus Medical Encyclopedia.

Can anyone clarify for me? When typing A1C, the "C" is capped as oppossed to HbA1c the "c" is not capped? Is that correct? I am so grateful to all of you who take the time to help me continue learning! ...
