Has anyone ever done their MT work from a hotel/motel - using the available WiFi?

Was displaced by a natural disaster for 8 weeks and worked on Hilton wifi. I'm not sure about HIPAA compliance rules at that time, but my employer (a big MTSO) was well aware of my situation and approved it.
Thank you for the reply. - I am also going to be temporarily displaced.

I did call my manager and she is also looking into what I would need to do in order to work, but still be HIPAA compliant.

If you look into getting an aircard, be sure you understand just how much airtime actually comes with the plan you select. Working one 8-hour shift could potentially consume an entire month's worth of data and every minute over that allotment can cost up to $1 a minute...I learned this the expensive way (a week in a hotel cost me $450 in data fees...)

Two years ago the power was out on our street for the better part of a day. My supervisor (with an MTSO) told me to go down to McDonalds with my laptop and work from there. I did, and had no connection issues, though as far as being HIPAA compliant, I have no clue.

I have been looking for a job, applied for unemployment and finally got it this past week. However, last week, my roommate asked me to leave. I went to a "national chain motel;" (Super 8) on Tuesday, after calling them Monday and telling them VERY SPECIFICALLY what I needed in terms of "high speed internet." DSL or cable and NO satellelite -- well, get down there ...
