Express Scribe HELP!!! (please) - Technically challenged

HELP!!! I recently had to reinstall Express Scribe. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get the voice file to go back several seconds. I hope I am explaining correctly.
Any advice VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!

Ok, I think this is what you mean. Go to options, go to other, then click on playback and I think it is the "auto backstep on stop (ms):". I hope this helps and makes sense. Good luck. When I downloaded this onto my new laptop my husband had to figure this out for me. It was driving me nuts!

This seems to keep it from jumping ahead (big improvement), but I was hoping to take it back several seconds.

I hate getting that thing straight. It will eventually do it though, just keep messing with it. I finally gave up and re-installed another older version of ES and it worked right away in setting the back step. There have been a few posts noted on the ES boards about it not "sticking" when you set it. That's when I finally gave up and got the older version.

Hi, I don't know if you have sorted out the issue of setting the voice back a few seconds but I'm replying just in case. I just downloaded it myself 2 days ago.
Go to the options tab and look for keyboard shortcuts. It won't be on the action list you see, but at the bottom of that window is another tab for a list of more actions. You should find Rewind for 5 secs and FF for 5 secs, among others. They don't have hot keys assigned, but you can select your own. I chose "shift" + "cntrl" + "page up" for the 5 sec rewind. You can select all the functions you like on the list, but be careful about the keys you assign to them. The hot keys will act even if you don't have the program running because they are system-wide.

Slight corrections to what I described on how to set the hot keys.

1) Under the options tab, the heading is "System-Wide Hot-Keys..."

B) To find the unlisted action, the "ADD" tab is at the bottom left of the System-Wide Hot-Keys window.

III) In the "Add New Hot-Key" window, select the Command drop down menu to see a full list of the actions. The "Step Back 5s" and "Step Forward 5s" are about 3/4 of the way down the list.

d) I also find the Increase/Decrease Playback Speed (5%) useful. They are the last 2 options on the list. I had to scroll down to the bottom because they weren't visible at first.

I'm trying to open the same type of files that I have been doing for over a year now in Express Scribe. Hi, I bought ES Pro in 2012 and have not had any problems with playing dictation. I also have DSS to WAV to convert files. I converted a DS2 file to WAV but a message pops up that I'm using a "demo trial version for evaluation use only" and I now need to purchase an upgrade. Ugh!!! I have just started having trouble with Express Scribe. Regardless of whether I am using the foot pedal or the function keys, it is as if the program does not recognize what I am doing. Sometimes it takes multiple presses of the stop button or taps on the footpedal to get the dictation to stop. Sometimes when I press reverse on the footpedal I end up playing or fast forwarding. I have a pedal that I used with Express Scribe about 5 years ago. It says IN-BMG on the bottom. I worked independently for a local office using old school dictation with a tape player so packed up my pedal. Hi all, I am trying to test today and having trouble. When I open the MTSO's dictation file it automatically opens the Windows Medial Player Window. I tried dragging it into Express Scribe, but it will not load into it that way. I cannot see anywhere that I could save it and drag it or load it. I am getting ready to take on a job from someone and need some advice. The dictation has been done on CD/DVD, and I purchased ExpressScribe Pro to install on my computer, along with a foot pedal . I've used Express Scribe for years and years, however, lately it has been locking up on me and the only way I have found to get it unlocked is literally shutting my computer down and restarting. I am using V4.15. Has this happened to anyone else? It doesn't even shut it down through task manager.
