Survival - an

Ok>  I just have to ask and I know it is all going to be negative, but here it goes.  I am a divorced 52 year old woman who has found herself out of job managing transcription.  I have now been with Nuance for two months.  I have a mortgage and oodles of bills.  Is there any way possible I can survive being with them.  The first few weeks I started, I found my average hourly to be around 8 bucks an hour......I was sick.  Now, almost 3 months later, closer to 12........still sick:(  Any feedback or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you and God Bless.

What do you think your biggest hurdle is? Are you constantly running out of work? Are you struggling with VR? Are you getting hung up on account specifics? I can try to help. I used to work at Nuance and left because I could not survive due to constantly running out of work. My productivity was pretty good when there was work. I used to make about $20 an hour at Webmedx before we were acquired by Nuance.

Thank you:) You know, I think my biggest problem is self distraction! When I am sitting down and really concentrating, I do well, but I find myself constantly getting up, getting a drink, throwing laundry in, checking FB.........it's horrible. You would think I was ADD. I just have never worked full time at home, and I think the lack of human contact is distracting me:(

I have the same problem. - Reward yourself.

What I do is work a good solid 2 hours and then get up for about 10 minutes and get whatever done I need to, whether laundry, dishes, etc. Or you could even look on FB for 10 minutes. Then sit back down and go at it again. I work a split shift and that also helps A LOT! I focus for 4 hours and then take a long stretch and get my things done and then work 4 more hours. Whatever works for you. It takes a while to get used to being at home and getting rid of distractions.

I have a radio with my favorite station on that is playing. Sort of like having a person in the "office" with me. But yeah, like the poster above, I work for 2 hours, then take a 10-minute break and do something else.

I don't work for Nuance but do work in Escription. I'm also no stranger to working at home. What you have is what I call rubber butt syndrome. What I do is work a shift that starts at noon. I get all my chores done in the morning, go on-line for a while, do errands, then come noon I set up something to drink at my desk, sit down and forget I am at home and pretend my boss is there checking up on me (which they are by the way). I also imagine not being able to make my mortgage payment, which is a powerful motivator. You need to stay off Facebook, this site, and get serious about making money. That's all.

Prepare for your work to be further divided up among their next set - of acquired MTs. Many of us

...lost houses "trying to hang in," hoping things would get better. We are now on food stamps and moving into public housing.

$12 has been about the cap for even those MTs working highly familiar accounts because they very soon just start dividing up the good work among these new people coming in from all the new acquisitions. Then when VR is finally in good enough shape, and the contract expires that was keeping it onshore, poof. Gone altogether. Been going on the entire 4 years since I was purchased.

Of course, you could put your house up for sale and survive a while longer on the proceeds, I suppose. It is what most of us had to do that had no other sources of income in our household.

Very sorry for your loss - Two words

We have no debt, save for mortgage on a house that is close to 70% paid for. That is how I have survived my time here.
So my two words would be Dave Ramsey. Go to Dave Ramsey.com, and get with the program. Do it today.
Secondly, if you were a manager, try to figure out how to get promoted. Personally, I have no idea how one gets promoted here. You have probably reached the top pay for MLS at $12.

Get another job, and in the meantime start delivering pizzas and eat beans and rice, rice and beans. And probably sell the house. Be proactive. The way MT pays, you might make enough to share an apartment on the crappy side of town.

Bear in mind that planted errors are being utilized to weed you out. (You are being told it is so that you become a better MT). So, if you decide to stick it out and learn the Nuance system of scoring reports, here are a list of the things I know they watch for when planting errors throughout the reports. I think we have to stick together, so here ya go!  (Wish I had had a QC share this with me):  Things to watch out for:  medication allergies to prescribed medications (we shoul ...

Repeating the former warnings I have seen on this board and about this company: 1.  Get EVERYTHING in writing, no matter how trivial.  They are masters of deceit. 2.  Say nothing to no one.  Get it in writing. 3.  If you are forced to talk to a supervisor, just keep your ears open - that click, click, click in the background is that supervisor typing everything that is being said or sending an IM to someone for help with a response that can be interpreted in 2 ways.&n ...
