QA Inconsistency??? - bs

Posted: Jan 01, 2015

Is anyone else experiencing QA inconsistency when it comes to the post-audit reports?  I have never had problems with QA all the years I've worked for Nuance, but since this new "exciting" pay plan has begun, it's been a daily uphill battle trying to get consistent auditing. In the past, I have changed something a speaker says if it was blatantly incorrect, and that has always been fine (and I work on a verbatim account).  Since Dec. 6th, doing this results in a "ding," so I began leaving the speaker's wording as they said it, true verbatim, and that is getting counted off too...So, I'm confused.  I guess they want us to blank each instance such as these, but then again, that makes that QC percentage go up.

I have been an MT for over 10 years and have never felt so discouraged and beaten down in my career.  I can't plan or budget bills because I have no idea from week to week what my pay will be, and with the upper levels being so inconsistent in how things are scored, which ultimately determines my pay more than the lines I produce, how on earth are we supposed to live like this?  I have been looking since Thanksgiving for something outside of MT, hoping something comes along very soon, so disheartened.

Yep. Same here recently. Also blanks being filled in - that make absolutely no sense

I don't think any part of this new pay thing was well thought out and just rushed because it looked good on paper. I've been with Nuance for 4 years and I think I'm finally done. The uncertainty is just not worth it for me or my family any more. I don't know of any job that has so many variables (including inconsistent QA scoring) that causes you to never know what you will make pay-wise for any given week. You just cannot support a family this way.

Hello, basically wanted to write back to let you know that you are not alone! Actually found tiny comfort to read this to let me know that I'm not alone either. I have been "dinged" 3 times within 3 weeks, 2 of them not justified causing me to lose many monies. I've been an MLS for 22 years now and I too feel completely discouraged. The best way to get through this new hurdle is to allow God to guide you in your next course of action. I too actually questioned my husband as to what can I do now when this is all that I know to do?? Let's all of us MLSs stick together and anyone else out there that is having the same issue please voice your concerns.

I really don't know how anyone's pay has not suffered under this new plan. If it hasn't it will. I am a good and experienced transcriptionist, but as my job requires me to review over 2200 lines a day I am going to overlook a few MINOR things now and then. I do my very best and have received all but one of the quarterly bonuses. The second pay period under this new plan will prove to be once again less than what I would have received under the former pay plan. Any one of you who thinks this pay is acceptable and preferable is either unbelievably excellent or so far very, very lucky in the (few) reports that are being QC'd. I want to be a loyal, mature and hard working employee to any employer, but I am truly struggling.

No you all are not alone. I have been doing this for 30 years and I get the same kind of e-mails, go faster, slow down, proof read more. I get these nasty e-mails, they are like bipolar the way they want us to produce more and then proofread the reports 2 or 3 times so that every report is perfect. Well if we were all perfect we wouldn't be human. And if they want perfection why don't they pay us for it instead of taking away our pay. There is no way to win in this game of theirs, but they are going to be the losers in the long run because a lot of good transcriptionists including myself are on their way out, either to another transcription job or something else, and at this point most of us are looking for something else because this industry just sucks. There is no other word for it. We have to know terminology, have experience with the kind of reports we are typing, know how to type faster than almost everyone, and we are not even getting minimum wage for these skills. Lately this voice recognition is making so many mistakes its not even funny. So let them have their cake and eat it too, hopefully shove it up their nose. So don't feel like you are alone. That's how they work, they send you an e-mail acting like everyone else is doing so good with this new plan and you are the only one that is doing horrible. But little do they know that we have this board and we know what is really going on when they send one of their degrading, belittling e-mails.

They may as well ask us to float around the room ignoring gravity. And when one of their babied doctors says something stupid or wrong, they circle the wagon. I ask you have you ever seen in the Olympics all 10's? They're making up pay because we can't do the impossible.

More Inconsistency With Post-Auditing...
Jan 04, 2015

Late last week I recieved an email communication about how they will only audit reports that were transcribed/edited during the current work week, only to log on this morning (I'm off Fri and Sat, so Sun morning is the 1st day of my week) to find that I had a post audit score below 99% that was audited on Saturday, so obviously it was edited last week sometime.  If I don't start my week until Sunday, how on earth can they audit a report on Saturday that was submitted the week prio ...
