Individual line counts on iChart and Dictaphone - Told to approve line count

Been at Nuance about 3 months now. How to I approve line count on WebClock when I have no idea how many reports Nuance is counting. Nuance just comes up with a number and I am told to approve it. Does anyone just accept Nuance word for the line counts and approve their timesheet?

Does anyone know how to do individual line counts on Dictaphone platform or Word for a guestimate if the line counts Nuance comes up at the end of the pay period are even close to accurate? I have never worked for a company where the number of reports counted are not broken out and all I get with Nuance is a lump sum from iChart and from Nuance final line count on timesheet. Is this even legal?

They have been hearing concerns like the very same ones you expressed in your note, and guess what they have done about it? Zip. Zero. Zilch. Nada. I am going on 3 years now in this lovely hellhole, still awaiting a way to get out while counting on the Department of Labor to come through for me and a whole lot of others with a nice fat back-pay check some day. We have all been ripped off daily, methodically, willfully. But if you have not complained yet yourself to the DoL, you should. It is every MT for herself here (as much as I hate that).

I received compensation from MQ once after some employees filed a lawsuit but did not know DOL would want to be involved.

I would love to see Nuance line counts audited because of the way they refuse to break down how they came to the line counts. It must be easy to incorporate the breakdown of reports because every company I have worked for on different platforms showed individual reports counted.

Here is the link for the Wage and Hour Division which is the division that truly cares about line rates versus minimum wages versus "sweat shops."

But, I use Google for everything. Doctors' phrases in quotes to check if any other doctor has used those same words in a sentence before. I Google government sites. I learned Google shortcuts and memorized them. I use it for everything. Make it your friend for MT work, for sure!

I found Nuance financial statements once just by - Googling and following every lead.

I googled my way to some WAY interesting stuff like Board of Directors names, CFO names, income, profit/loss statements. For sure, I agree, make Google your best friend if you plan to stay in MT work.

Trust no one, especially Nuance HR, which turn a deaf ear to complaints and a blind eye toward supervisor abuses.

your recourse to that is not to work for them. MTs will NEVER see a back pay check from N, don't know why you think they will.

if you think they are doing nothing illegal, you better go to the FLSA website - and read it thoroughly

I called the DOL over a year ago and was told that as long as I do not do their required off-the-clock tasks such as fiesa, then I have no case with the DOL. The minute I start doing these things and claim them on my timesheet and do not get paid for it, THEN I have a case. The way they have webclock set up there is no way to try to claim it, unless I just pick any reason and when inevitably asked to explain say it was my fiesa, etc, time.

To save my sanity in more ways than one, I stay off fiesa, just put in my 8 and thats it.

Yes I am now dirt poor thanks to Nuance. But since I have a tiny house that I can still (barely) afford, I may not have a pot to ?!$$ in, but I at least have a window to throw it out of.

Why the check then? You are not doing what supposedly - need to be done to SM

I was wondering if anyone knows exactly what OSI cuts out of their line counts? Seeing as they use a remote website for line counts, it is pretty obvious they cut corners with what MTs get paid on. I was just wondering WHAT are the cutting? Do they only pay 1 space? Do they not pay if you copy and paste? Do they only pay on a % per page - meaning if you have little on 1 page you aren't going to get any credit for those lines, etc? Just curio ...

I know this has been discussed before, but what is up with these line counts? I used to have no problem doing 200+ lph. Now, I work at the same pace on an account with less ESL speakers and I struggle to get my required 150 lph. According to the Escript, I'm doing an average of 300 lph on VR but usually at the end of 8 hours, I don't top 1100 liines most days. On Dictaphone's ExSpeech, i used to consistently do 1800-2400 a day on a combination. I have noticed with EScript that 1 day a week, my lines will hit 1200-1300, and I even hit 1500 one day, yet the lph were still 300. It doesn't make sense. No, I do not take breaks. Hi - I have a question regarding counting templates. I have a new doc who wants me to only count what he dictates, and not the templated review of systems, past medical history, social history, etc. which is all unchanged (unless he says to change it). Do you cut and paste your work into a "count" file to get the total, or do you tell the doctor that it has to be included in the count. Is anyone else suspicious about how they are calculating our line counts? I have been siltting here VERY diligently and typing like crazy these last few days and my counts seem to be going DOWN!!! I have been an MT for over 10 years doing hospital work. I have never been able to do much over 200 lines an hour straight typing except for the rare occasions I get several eye surgeries in a row that are canned. Usually I fall below this. My account is not difficult, but I do have a couple of different hospitals and of course many dictators.
