I worked a split shift 5 days a week and it go to be too much, so I went from 40 hours down to 35 hours, working 7 five hour shifts over 6 days. it has worked out much better for me. I also don't need the insurance so that was not an issue.

Is it just me, or is anyone else's mind blown by "working 7 five hour shifts over 6 days"?

I work 5 nights 8p-1a in addition to 2 days 9a-2p. M-Th nights only, Friday split shift. Saturday it's just the day shift. Yeah, it's kind of weird, but it works for me right now. I have sunday completely off.

No problem with STM... - Bindi

I went from FT, 40 hours, to PT, 25 hours with no problem. When progressive PT became available at 30 hours a week I jumped at it in order to get the FT health benefits. Had no problem requesting either with STM. I work 5 hours a day, 6 days a week. Less stressful than 40 hours a week and I actually think I'm more productive on the reduced schedule.

I was struggling to get that 40 hours so my TL actually recommended it and once I realized I could still get incentive and bonus I did it. She was great and I now have a flex type schedule. I adhere to my regular schedule as much as I can but I can also work a few hours and then stop and make up the rest later or whenever as long as it is in the same pay period week. I have a problem sitting for 8 hours straight due to surgeries in both arms and having "hardware" in both of them due to them being broken so this works out the best for me. I find I can produce more when I know I only have 4 hours to work rather than a solid 8. I also don't need the insurance but I can take it if I want to.

I would like to drop from 40 to 30 hours. - mt2

Would I still be eligible for health insurance and PTO?

FT to PT - Freebie

I just did it but I'm probably going to lose my job over it. I switched from FT to PT at Nuance and went back to FT at my other job. Sent in my papers and started working this this 7/1. My TM is so scatterbrained I just got an email from her Friday saying she was going to have to look into it and see if there was a part time position available, I've already been doing it for 2 weeks. So I'll probably be looking for another PT or IC job next week unless it takes her another couple weeks.

Social Security And Progressive Part Time

Thinking of taking early SS and cutting hours so I would not make much more than the 15,000 you are allowed on SS.  That way I would still be eligible for insurance until I am old enough for Medicare. Has anyone else done this or know any pros and cons about that progressive part time thing?  TIA ...
