if there was any doubt - see inside

Mmodal just put a full-page ad in the AHIMA magazine seeking coders for employment.  Get your ducks in a row, folks.

Medical transcription is going away - sm

courtesy of electronic medical records. I see it at my GPs office all the time, cross train a PA or a nurse or whatever and they fill in as they go. I also like that my new doc pulls up specialists records for me and reads them to me, rather then the old guy that said your fine don't worry. I don't blame mmodal for getting into coding, they have to save their company. Me, I have no desire to do it. Just riding the horse till it dies or it kills me, whichever comes first

Yep, - ThisClose to retiring

so I'm hanging on to the Titanic rails til it plummets to the bottom.

They've also had full-age ads in AHIMA mag - sm

for MTs and coders the last few months so....?

I wouldn't be surprised if one day the MT and coder - positions were combined.

Train MTs on coding, like they are currently doing, that way MTs can transcribe and code. It's really not a bad thing, getting retrained in another skill set.

yes that is what they are doing right now by offering the - HDS2Coder

program. We will get paid hourly plus a per line bonus.
That I find hard to believe - I can see doing both

but not that kind of pay..not from this company anyway
But point and click is taking away the dictation. - Docs like it cuz they hate to dictate.

Even if coding and MT were combined (which I seriously doubt), the pay would likely not be much better. And if it were, the hospitals and MTSOs would still be looking for every possibly way to lower it, and still scrambling to underbid one another. It's just not worth it anymore, regardless of whatever it happens to morph into in the future.
They have point and click coding software as well. - sm

Much easier to click a code than click an entire report as opposed to dictating it IMHO. There are 2 certified coders in the doctor's office where my friend works. Both are receptionists, just answering phones & scheduling patients, making peanuts. There's just no demand for coders. Our local college, on top of all the online colleges, are cranking out the coders, and now MM is getting in on that game. I think they will flood the market with them like they did MT, and that combined with point and click coding will pretty much destroy that field. Not to mention with MM setting their sights on coding, it will be going to India rapidly. I think the only way to survive in the future is to find a job that can only be done in person, and I know I for one would have trouble working out in the public again after all these years!! But I'm pushing my kids to make sure and choose a career that can't be sent overseas....
Until it goes to India anyway... - Enjoy it while it lasts! nm

E-Scription Doubt
Apr 15, 2014

Hi,   I noticed that some ES users download 5-25 jobs in the user ID even when QUEUE CACHE is set to '1'. That is when they are only allowed to download 1 job at a time. This is a flaw in the software and frustates other MTs who dont do any frauds like this.  Can anybody tell me how they download more jobs at a time?  I just want to stop this practice. thanks Jones ...

If I Ever Had Any Doubt About Going Back To School
Nov 12, 2013

I have been helping my husband finish up his degree online for the last year or so and told him when he is done next month I am going back and finishing up my degree. I know everyone says have a plan, or be prepared but since my husband makes more money and actually has potential for a promotion his schooling was top priority and I have been just praying that my job lasted long enough to get him through. So yesterday I got all my transcripts together, filled out the application and set up ...

now that we all know they don't pay until they get paid.  Someone there must not have read the company board before they made their job posting for today. I might need a job, but I don't work for free for anyone.  Desperate times?  You bet.  Even worse is to be so desperate as to work for a company that has not paid even after 6 weeks have gone by with no guarantees that you will be paid in another 6 weeks. ******* DISCLAIMER ***************** Postings of thi ...
