I am going through Penn Foster. Thought I would give them a shot and see what happens. Gotta try something. So far the course seems very good and they have a great support staff.

Coding and billing is done in India too. - nm

Do you think everyone who was let go... - anon

is really going to come on MT Stars and gab about it? Not likely. Quite sure more than two people were let go.
We dont know how many were let go. COuld be 2, 4, 40 - 400. Who knows? Guess we will SM

get an idea when and if those left have work. If we have enough work, probably a lot let go. If volume doesnt really change much, not enough were let go.
How are you "quite sure" more than 2 were let go? - anon

That is pure speculation with zero evidence.

Two posters in 2 days posted they were fired for making critical errors or not meeting line counts. The one yesterday had been given 3 warnings before she was fired and the one today said she had been getting audited for "weeks" and was finally let go when she couldn't pass an audit.

Neither of these posts would indicate a "mass" firing. Sounds like standard procedure to me. Strike 3 and they were out.

it's easy for them to move work back from India - the click of a button

And once in awhile they actually do it!

Anyone Left MQ And Taken A 401K Distribution,
Jul 14, 2010

either as a rollover to another retirement plan or a payout?  I am curious about how long this process takes, and whether there is much red tape.  I know I can call the 401K custodian and hear what SHOULD happen, but I am more interested in hearing from someone who's already done it if there were any holdups.  Thank you in advance for any replies, and have a great day!  ...

Work Distribution Question
Oct 17, 2011

i am extremely confused with what my job has now done with workflow.  i went from having 10-12 accounts to this new situation where they have assigned ALL clinic/psych accounts to ALL employees.  productively, this does not make sense to me as not only do i have to learn 40 or so new accounts, but the few accounts that did remain that i have been doing for a while are now being distributed to the pool for every employee to transcrib.  does this make sense to anyone out there? ...

Dictation App
Aug 06, 2014

I think it is safe to say that we can expect even worse sound quality now that the doctors are using a dictation app. I can say I have already noticed this on my accounts. Pet Dictation Peeve
May 25, 2010

Ooooh!  This gets me.  This is an NP who is dictating acute care - "The patient comes in with a diagnosis of non-insulin dependent diabetes 'myelitis'."  Puhleeze!  The same dictator pronounces "organomegaly" as "organomeglea."  It's like hearing someone scratching their fingernails down a blackboard.  Shouldn't these people have had enough schooling to be able to sound out words?! ...

Echo Dictation
Jul 23, 2011

For those who work with echo dictation -  from what I understand, it's useful for straight transcribing, but does it work in VR? I'm thinking of investing in it, but can't understand how it would be useful in a VR program, which is where everything will be in just a few years.  I would think it wouldn't work in a non-Word program since you can't cut and paste, and even if it did, you'd be editing twice.  Thanks for any info! ...
