To V10--Be careful - Adios

Posted: Jul 23, 2010

Don't be too quick to tag this all as drama.  I have been with MQ for about 12 years.  I left and came back 1-1/2 years ago.  I was told many things in being hired back that were not true. Then I was micro-managed when I came back.  Things have settled down and I am very fortunate to still have enough work, although not on my primary account.

Please know that this is not just all drama.  It is very stressful if you are the main bread-winner.  If not,may not be quite so bad for you, if you are okay with ups and downs, daily.

I was told on being rehired that I would get approximately 60% MT, 40% ASR.  I get about 99% ASR and was pretty much told, "Oh well."  Of course, what I calculated I would be making was way, way off and has cost me a lot of financial stress.  My pay is at least 40% less than when I left about 2 years ago.  Not drama, fact.

I have done a very good job, I believe, of keeping up with changes and technology, but if MQ had to post salaries, I truly believe you would see this is not drama.  There are a few exceptions who, based on account, amount of ASR, etc, have kept their income up.  I totally believe they are the exception.  The only way I could be convinced otherwise would be to see the salaries of MT/ME's posted, showing percentage of ASR.

If you get on board, hopefully you will get a great account and great CCM and not have any heartache. Then you can avoid this board and all of us "complainers."  Or you may quickly join us.

I was with MQ when ASR was rolled out, helped roll the program out and made suggestions that helped, at that time.  I know it backwards. I have asked for, and recieved help from the training department, which did nothing to increase my productivity on ASR.

Pretty sad to have our venting over serious problems referred to as drama, but the old saying, walk a mile in my moccassins.  I wish you luck.  I am currently looking to get out of transcription after about 13 years, just too much stress and can never count on my paycheck.

Footnote, even if I am a complainer, I have always had excellent audits, have gotten raises, back in the day helped with QA when they got behind. And I am sure many of my "fellow drama queens" are the same.

thank you for a voice of reason, Adios - sm

I share a similar story as you, having been around when ASR was rolled out. I have been doing this for 12 years now and have seen too many negative changes over the past 3 years. No drama here either, just reality. Unfortunately MQ/Cbay is the leader of the pack, and many others are quickly learning from their poor practices. V10, if you take the plunge be prepared for what could be a rollercoaster ride. Please have a plan B ready to go just in case, and please do not get too comfortable here as there is constant change and not any of it good from the MT's perspective.

I work for a very nice company, but they use MQ software, MQ ASR, do overflow work for MQ,and have started adapting MT rules about getting in "big trouble" for an ADT error or wrong cc. Had I known when I was applying for new jobs that they were that closely affiliated with MQ, I never would have accepted the position, and actually never would have applied to begin with. I wish someone had been upfront about that when I was interviewing. But I'm here now. It's okay so far, but I just know a bomb is going to drop and they'll end up just like MQ with all the nonsense about being penalized for QA Markers, etc. That's when I'm out, and they'll have lost a good acute care MT with high audit scores.

Other companies already have adapted MQ philosphy, whether theyr're affilated with them or not. MQ is the "leader" of the nonsense, and they all follow the leader, thinking their pocket books will shine.

If your at a decent place, stay. Grass isn't necessarily greener anywhwere else. At least my paycheck is on time and my supervisors don't harrass me where I am. I'm not getting "written up" every 5 minutes for silly nonsense.

"overflow" work for MQ - unbelievable

we sit here with NJA, and you're doing overflow work from MQ?

I don't think the insanity will ever end.

I do hope the superiors where I work understand that a lot of people that work where I do, are former MQ'ers and left for a good reason. If we become any more affiliated with MQ, then, well, I'm not speaking for everyone, I'm gone.

It sounds like to me CBAY will be getting ready - to buy this company soon. NM

CBAY Kumar states in posts below he wants more acquisitions and basically wants to take over. Spheris was nothing to him, just a start of his acquisitions.

So very true - FormerMT

It's fine to call us names and mock us, calling us chronic complainers and calling it drama when you are on the good side of the yard. Some people with MQ seem to have a smooth ride. For those of us who didn't and don't it's another story completely. It can be pure hell to put in one day under the conditions that a lot of us had to work. You said it better than I ever could. No drama; pure and simple reality for a whole heck of a lot of us. I was at a high line rate due to many years of good work. I am certain that is why things turned ugly and I was forced to quit. Thank the good Lord I'm out.

Really Careful

Editing ASR.  Doctor CLEARLY states upcoming eye surgery and the ASR transcribed upcoming "knee" surgery.  There is no way this sounded like knee surgery, but that is what it put.  It was spelled correctly, looked OK.  If I had not been actually editing and listening and doing what I understand some people do and just "proofreading," there is no way I would have caught this.  It is not possible to edit MQ's ASR without listening to every word (and get it right) -- a ...

Be Careful - More Landmines
Nov 25, 2013

It's probably my "conspiracy theorist" mind at work but a couple of weeks ago I posted a few ASR errors in reports that a great number of MTs were missing/overlooking that could cost a lot of points in an audit.  Since then, I'm noticing a big flood of other ones so I wanted to just post a big warning to BE CAREFUL.  I'm not sure if these little landmines are sprinkled through our reports in order to trip us up on audits but I want you all to be especially watchful and d ...

Be Very Careful When Applying To SoftScript
Dec 05, 2009

Be very careful when applying to SoftScript.  They have many openings but I have applied, when through the testing, got an interview, but they never called and when trying to find answers they never respond.  I would be very skeptical of working for a company like this.  I also checked a little into them and found out that I was not the first one that this has happened to, plus getting work can be a problem and keeping work can be a problem.  ...

I Am Usually Careful About Comments On Line
Dec 11, 2012

but this takes the cake.  I have a good notion not to finish my shift.  If I wasn't the sole wage earner, I'd sure quit this very moment.  They start off saying our compensation will be based on skill and competency levels -- right.  Oh and reeking of Obama philosphy, giving us "equal earning opportunity."  Now PTO is calculated on how many hours you work, rather than years with the company or FT status?  Nonproduction hour pay is cut.  I love the tra ...

Please Be Careful When You Make A Post As The MTSOs Do Come On
Aug 06, 2013

I am posting here because although it is a "company" issue, it is also, I think a "general" issue.  I recently started working for a smaller MTSO.  When I sent in paperwork, there were problems on their end with apparently being able to open and print my scanned documents which were in a .jpg format.  This was the first time that I had ever run into a problem like that and had posted on the company board if anyone else had been having problems with this particular company receivi ...

Proof Positive - The Harder I Try, The More Careful I Am, The Worse I Do.
Mar 19, 2014

Failed another audit. Third failure in a row and worse than the last 2. Going slower, proofreading, trying harder does absolutely no good. Fooled by ASR a few times too. I am also sick of getting dinged occasionally because AAMT/ADHI decides to change the way something should be written. I have been transcribing for 30 years. I was so careful that, for the first time in a real long time, I have some makeup pay, i.e., I made less than minimum wage. Although I need to inform my QAM that ...
