So stressed out - SR is killing me

Posted: Sep 07, 2012

Pay cut in half, work flow cut in half, and mortage is due!  And this all came with no warning at all!  My CCM was pretty matter-of-fact about it when I asked her if all my accounts were going Speech......"oh yea, eventually all the accounts will be speech".  HUH?  Why don't they warn us about this stuff?  Give me an opportunity to put out feelers for another job for goodness sakes!  I have been through this Speech thing too many times not to know that it is a cut in pay and half the work disappears, because.....you can do the jobs faster...duh, you're not typing anymore, you are editing.  I am sitting here a nervous wreck on my day off wondering if I should jump on and try to get something....I dread my next paycheck.

OMG.......okay, I'm done!

Thanks for listening!

I hear ya - anon

My pay is averaging about 700 bucks a pay period, which is half what I was making.

Late rent, late everything, it is a nightmare and you never wake up.

They don't warn you because they don't care - old and burned out

When I used to work in the office I would tell everyone that if one of us dropped dead at the front door they would just step over us and keep on going. They simply do not care, period.

Sorry you are going through this. - mom2huskies

This is just becoming too common in the transcription field. I am sorry to hear what you are going through. Straight transcription is getting to be pretty rare.

Have you called your mortgage company to see if there is anything they can do to help you? You can google Government Mortgage Relief Programs.

You may also want to check into going back to school as you may be able to qualify for financial help.

I am praying that things will improve for you. All I know is that we all need to get away from Mmodal.

Thank you - Your prayers are needed

I will check into the Mortgage Relief Programs. I have also been thinking about going back to school. Only problem with that is I have to work extra hard to get the little I do get. Where will I find the time. But thanks for the suggestions. I really appreciate it!

Will not get better - broken promises

I am surprised that you still had typing accounts. Be thankful you got to make money while you could. You know that ASR pays 60% of the straight typing rate, plan on your check being cut by the 40%. Seriously. Oh your CCM will tell you things like take advantage of the shift differential, get your CMT or try to tier up. Oh and my favorite was that other companies pay less anyway and we are doing you all a favor by paying what we pay per line. We all have tried things like speeding the voice up or punching out while going to the bathroom. These things may add a few dollars to your paycheck but not enough to make up the 40% you are losing. They may be OT offered and if you are desperate it is better than nothing.

They also promised a "rewards plan" in early summer and we all got excited but summer is over and no rewards plan. So don't count on any sort of a meager raise to help make up the 40% you are losing either.

The paychecks you are used to are gone. You either need to accept that and budget accordingly, get a part-time job as so many of us are doing or get out entirely. Don't bury your head in the sand thinking it will get better and you can just make more money on ASR. They have technologically made it impossible.

I never could do it faster; matter of fact I went from - 200 lph to 150 lph editing.

Just my experience. 40% cut in pay AND it was slower.

Agree. SR's success depends on way too many variables to increase productivity for everybody. - tmt

It's oftentimes much more productive for the MT just to type it than to stop several times each line to make corrections.

I did SR in DocQscribe for 5 years and it's pretty bad. My current SR/VR platform is Word based and it's much better. I've actually increased my productivity by about 50% from what I was able to do at MedQ.

Way too many variables.

SR success - new but old

Yeah when I was with MQ I did terrible with the SR way too much to correct but I am now with Nuance and their platform is 100% better and so much easier to do. I have doubled my productivity in that regard so my LPH is always great - Lately I seem to have about half and half every day

Stressed Out, Need Help
Feb 19, 2013

I am trying, like so many of us, just to keep doing this job to pay the bills until I can find something else. I am stressed, depressed, frustrated, angry, you name it, I'm there. But I keep telling myself how much I hate this job and that I don't want to do this anymore, and it's making things worse. Any advice on how to cope with this situation? Anybody doing any better? This job is hard enough without me making it even harder. Thanks. ...

Stressed

I've never been so stressed in my life!!!  N is so disorganized.  I worked on eScription for 3 years before our dept in AK was outsourced to this company (never once had a problem with finding templates, etc.).  N comes in, takes over our dept, I go to work for them, get put on my 3rd acct (this one from CA) and I've NEVER seen such a jumbled mess of templates in my life.  They give you no direction on where to find stuff, no consistency in templates, nuthin.  ...

Totally Stressed Over Making Bonus
Aug 27, 2012

I know I have a month to go yet, but today I checked Fiesa, and I am down to 99.19% with only a little over a month to go. I hate that it will affect the next entire quarter. Why can't they be reasonable and at least do monthly. Without bonus I will not be able to make ends meet. I know, I know, I'm not alone. Just had to vent. I am so stressed out and hate it! I really want to find another job, but it sounds like the grass is not any greenier anywhere else.  ...
