Promotion Please - ginger

Posted: Sep 30, 2011

I  have been with Medquist for 8 years.  I was an MT, then an MME, and finally QA.  I have applied for QA Team lead as well as supervisor, manager and pretty much anything else that I think I am qualified for and I never even get an answer or acknowledgement that they received my application.  I just want a promotion to a job where I don't type so much, I get paid more, and I have an hourly rate instead.  Any suggestions on degrees, credentials, certification, etc. that might help.  Currently working on CMT cert.

Im pretty sure there are enough chiefs - and way too many Indians

I doubt that you would move up in this company. Their history proves you only move down, rapidly.

It's the only company I know of where a promotion - means a good screwing

I think you're crazy for wanting a promotion with Q - why not use all that drive and ambition in an industry that cares about it?

And by the way you have it backwards - you go from MT to QA to MME.

I thought QA was MME - and QA alone is nonexistant

I'm an MME myself. I thought a couple years ago all QA became MMEs and were taken off hourly.
Yes - you're right - health and wellness coach

QA personnel were all moved over to MMEs a couple of years ago - QA positions don't exist anymore so she has it backwards - you go from QA to MME not the other way around.
maybe QA reference was to Auditor, which is not MME (proofer) - no msg

A promotion will simply mean more work for less $$$ with this company. One way or the other they will find a way to "reward" you with less income than you deserve. Take you energy, drive, and time and put it towards something you can pursue in the future....regardless of what order you proceed career-wise with the Q you WILL get screwed in the end! They want Americans and experienced MTs who expect to paid more than minimum wage GONE!!! Sorry to be such a downer about moving up, but do it somewhere where it will be something positive!

My manager is NOT a transcriptionist. - Has no clue about typing.

CCM is not an MT and never was one. I say get out of transcription. It will all change soon when the EMR/EHR takes place.

It is not - sm

EMR that is ruining the transcription field. That merely means electronic records, which just means all records are on computers. What has ruined the transcription field is software companies that have promised the sun and moon to hospitals with VR and point and click software. They market the stuff making it like they won't be compliant if they don't use their software and promise super low rates and the hospitals are going for it, and we are the ones stuck editing this stuff for peanuts. Again, EMR is not ruining our field, just software companies getting rich off our backs.

Degrees, credentials, certifications?!?!? - FLMT

I've added a degree recently.....M.D.!

All that got me was another pay cut.

Stop thinking this company rewards motivation, ambition, or education. All they want is carbon-based computers mindlessly typing for them.
