Possible Purchase of Spheris by Nuance - Concerned Long-Time Spheris MT

Has anyone heard anything on if MedQuist has won the bid for Spheris? I have been reading the news on the internet and it looks like there are two other bidders, but I have been praying for the past few weeks that MedQuist will win so we keep our jobs here in the U.S.

MedQuist is just so big it may feel like that but most work is domestic, because customers insist on it.

Anon (capital A) is right. It is the facilities choice. While MQ may be willing to oblige, the facility makes the choice. anon (lower case a) that posted beneath keeps trying to spook everyone with the misinterpreted SEC document that is actually the agreement between MQ and CBay (because they are separate corporate entities though have a common owner) that if a facility wants to use offshore, they must commit 80%. Presumably, because they don't want to hire a workforce in India without committed volumes.

I think there was a post on the company board that the final decision is Thursday (tomorrow), and I believe it's between MQ and Transcend as the bidders.

Was the final announcement made today and I missed it? Not that I'm "rooting" for either side just find it curious that BigQ and LilQ are in a faceoff over its acquisition.

the judge had to knock Nuance out of the running. This is apparently secondary to the VR that Spheris uses is a competitor to Nuance's VR and doesn't want Nuance to get their contract. I don't really understand that ruling as MQ has their own VR as well, so aren't they also a competitor?

I'm really hoping Transcend gets the contract. They're bidding more money. If MQ loses, maybe they will throw some of that 75 million our way.

They better throw it our way. It is our money - to beging with.

I just need MS Word 2013....but everywhere I look all I see available are "download only" or "no media" or key card only, no disk. I'm worried about getting a copy with no disk. Need to buy MS Word for my new job. However, when I purchased the 2007 version online it was an "academic version" only. Can't use that. I guess I have to buy a newer version, like 2010 or 2013, but it seems like the only way to do that is via download and then you pay a subscription of ??? per month or year?
