MQ has knocked the wind out of my sails already - tired

Posted: Apr 08, 2011

I started MedQuist a couple of weeks ago, and am going to soon start applying at other companies.   I've been transcribing many years, but have never edited.  I thought it would be an interesting and fun experience, but am already tired of it.  Every report is ESL and I have to fill in so much, I could go much faster just typing.  Because I haven't been shown how to access and use the expander, despite numerous requests, I have to type everything over and over.  I feel like my QA person is nitpicking every single little thing I do.  I don't mind real corrections, but I resent petty changes, such as whether I put "patient taken to cath lab" or "patient brought to cath lab."  It doesn't matter what the doctor said; whichever wording I choose, it's changed.  If I want someone to constantly contradict me and wear me down to a frazzle, I can just call my sister!  Oh, woe....

To: Tired - par for the course

Have you contacted your CCM, Quality Coach or support about accessing the expander? That's ridiculous that you have to type something over and over. I don't know how you access it outside of DocQscribe, but while working if there is a word or a phrase that you want to enter into the expander just highlight it and hit ctrl + e and then assign your shortcut to it or if you just think of something to enter just ctrl + e and type in everything, the shortcut and the expansion -- hope that helps...maybe you might be better off looking for something else if it's not a fit for you and pretty much anyway you're left to fly by the seat of your pants as you've already experienced the lack of communication - sorry to say, the MQ way!!!

that's it - left to fly by the seat of your pants! I was with Spheris for 6 years, left after MQ took over. Average pay went down quickly $1.50/hr. less than where I was with Spheris and was going down, down, down more very quickly. They just don't care about their employees AT ALL!!!

I laughed at your post, not for your MQ problems but your "sister" comment. - Boy can I relate

My sister is the all knowing, all seeing, everything I say and do is the only way sister. We are like Velcro. Hope you find a better company to work for. I have heard horror stories about MQ. Good luck!

Sorry, but probably won't get better. - no name

We still mostly type the dictation, now it is just for 60% of our original contracted rate. Welcome to Q.

There is a control key - MedTrans

You use Ctrl E to get into your expansions. You can add there. You are able to open up Docqscribe Guidelines documentation on Docqmanage. My advice to you would be to print it out and keep it in front of you. This way you can get used to what each key does. Also under help is a listing of the Ctrl keys and their features under commands. Hope this helps.

Tired - but appreciative of your helpful comments everybody. - Thanks!

Fingers Crossed, Eyes Crossed, Knocked On Wood

Well, just as I landed my "dream" job with a very small MTSO and began making good money (albeit with no insurance benefits), lo and behold if I didn't get a call for a local "headhunter" today to open negotiations with a local group of specialty physicians who are apparently bringing their transcription back in house and want someone ready to hit the ground running.  Full-time, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., hourly pay, paid vacation, paid sick leave, a one-MT-show so priv ...
