Jeez. Instead of Boostaroo, they could - sm

just email the few dictators who are laying the phone down and whispering.  THAT'S the problem.  Not the audio.  The individual dictators.  Why should we have to buy extra equipment for the few jerks who don't care if you can hear or not when they lay the phone on the desk so they can flip through the chart?!?  How hard is it to ask the client to send out a nice generic email reminding them that we can't hear it if they aren't holding it to their mouth and speaking clearly in a quiet background??  No, we should take our minimum wage and invest it in more equipment instead........

Apparently they haven't even bothered to - sm

listen to the dictators we're complaining about to see, yes, it's them laying the phone down, not our audio gear. Things like this completely aggravate me. When many of us are telling you there are a couple of dictators who are the problem, don't tell us to buy more equipment. Just email the client and ask them to pass along the message. Problem solved. I know one is either a PA or a resident and may not even realize we can't hear him.

equipment on earth we can buy to fix that. That's up to MM's techs and the client to take care of.

If they won't make them accountable for their actions, I do..I leave the blanks and a note that the audio was too low, or too much background noise, whatever. The ones that fly through the reports and you need to go in and out of other reports to find what they are saying? Blank blank blank, fire me please..I have complained and complained to no avail, so..you leave me no choice. Happy fill in the blanks day

That's what I've been doing too. Surely - sm

some of them will listen back to their recording and hear for themselves why they're getting so many blanks. We can only transcribe it if we can hear it...

I had a radiologist I couldn't hear. When I called an administrator about it, I was told the doc had a germ phobia and refused to hold the mike, and that I should "mash" the earphones into my ears to hear him better. Sigh.

Omg... You know what germaphobia gets you? - sm

but it won't be in my ears, and it won't be comfortable either..Agree...blanks away, let them hire someone to dictate for them.

I also have not had a raise since 2000, but whatever. I cant even get a $10 charity bonus that Amy was supposed to give the CCMs to hand out. Where is that? HELLO? Does anyone know that I work hard and deserve some appreciation? ...

Boostaroo: Re A Small Discussion About
Sep 11, 2010

This is mentioned as a great product to increase the volume on voice files.  I went to Radio Shack and checked it out.  The picture shows what looks like a very short cord.  Could someone explain how this works?  I currently have to plug my headset directly into the front of my computer because there was no sound when I plugged them into my speakers.  Would I plug the Boostaroo into the computer?  Does the headset then plug into the Boostaroo?  Also, in the pic ...

Whoever Recommended That "Boostaroo" Thingamabob--THANK YOU!
Jul 02, 2012

I ordered it last week from Amazon, received it today, and put it to use just a few minutes ago for a dictator who didn't want to speak into the mic.  What a difference!  It amplified the volume so much so that I had to put my volume on the lowest setting and it came in beautifully!  Sad that we have to destroy our ears like this, but so much better than cranking the volume and still having a report full of holes. Thank you again for the wonderful recommendation!  ...
