Hit my limit - sm

Posted: Mar 06, 2013

Im on information overload..I cant handle all these different accounts and remembering every single thing on them..I have now graduated to making stupid mistakes and it is driving me nuts..stupid little things I would normally catch..I think it is time I seriously weigh my options about getting out of this line of work.

I agree. There is no way to be 99% accurate - with this many accounts

You can only see so much of the client profile, so you have to do the F5 thing to see any work type specific instructions or dictator specific instructions. So you spend 3-4 minutes reading over the CP and then have to search the specifics and then have to decipher which set of rules they want, JHACO, AHDI, or if you follow the MModal guidelines.

If you try to just look at the samples and follow those, they are all over the place. Some have cc, some have mL, some have allergies capped, some dont, all on the same account. So you are constantly checking, double checking, flipping, jumping, bouncing and CRYING!!!

I am going tomorrow to the community college and I dont care how many student loans I have to take out, I am done.

99% - reallytired

I was told by my QAC yesterday that the audits are going up to 99.5% accuracy "soon." And it's not by accounts, it's across the board. Just an FYI to get ready.

oh dear - a machine cant even be that perfect

[ In Reply To ..]
that is just ridiculous

that is redic,,so we all get even slower, by - check and double check

I was audited with 99.1% in Feb and TSM says quality is already 99.5% - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
When did it change to 99.5%....anyone know?
recently - cant say exactly
[ In Reply To ..]
but like in the last 6 months. I can't believe 99.1 is not good enough for them. They never make mistakes?
Fire me - and put me out of my misery
[ In Reply To ..]
No way I can maintain 99.5% accuracy. Heck, my TSM can't even put out a 2 line e-mail without more than one mistake. Shoot me now.
we are getting so screwed - 99.5 what a bunch of

Time for all to speak up that being perfect is impossible sm - broke

[ In Reply To ..]
for humans all the time and if ASR or EHR or whatever can do our jobs then why aren't they???? I have not heard about this 99.5% but for what we get paid, the little PTO we get off, no sick day or holidays, being docked for leaving blanks, I think they may have risen the bar a bit too high for most of us (or at least me) to achieve. It is almost impossible with all the accts we are expected to do. I can't wait to get this phone call or email because I am going to speak my mind.
I agree completely with you. I think it is their way of... - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I think this is just their way of saving themselves money. By putting us at 99.5% they will have less incentive to pay out and they will make money by docking us 3 cpl on the audits we fail.

Thought I was going to retire early on my 1/2 of husband's social security, but it looks like I will only get 35% of his and then taxes to boot, not going to give the government money my husband worked so hard for. Looks like I am going to have to hang on for 4 more years. Pay check this week one third of what I usually make for 2 weeks. Again, cue violins.

even the F5 repository is messed up - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
the repository has everything done differently as well..Yesterday I had a standard with several spelling errors and improper spaces after the periods..Of course, the doc, dictated things that werent even in there and we never received any training on how to fill the standards in anyway so that is trial and error as well..99% my butt

i agree, we are constantly checking and the - samples are all diff

which makes the production lower

As long as the American MTs have a different - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
quality standard that they are required to meet as opposed to the Indian MTs, that is flat-out discrimination. I really don't see how they are getting away with that.

Do you think - old and burned out

[ In Reply To ..]
the ASR technicians have to be 99% accurate or else get their pay docked?

I think its pretty apparent that they have to be less - than 50% accurate!

ASR is crazy.

ASR is 90% of the problem - sm

i think it is programmed wrongly so we have to - spend our time correcting

to keep us in the low pay range. duh. Once we start getting faster, things change just to slow us down again!

Same thing happened to me. I finally insisted on - one account only, even though - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
it meant lower pay. That way I've been able to (barely) hang onto the job while I'm in school, learning to do something else!

I think MT is hitting the point of critical mass when it comes to the amount of information we're expected to learn and retain, all the time working full-speed just to make less than minimum wage.

Remember how the artificially inflated housing "bubble" finally burst? I think it's going to happen in a big way with medical transcription service organizations (MTSOs). It's hard to say which way the result of that will go, with regard to us and our jobs. It could be better (work brought back to the hospitals), or it could be worse. But for me, it won't matter. I intend to get as far away from what this godawful profession has become as my new education will take me.

but Im sooo close to being able to retire - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I hate the thought of going back to school..It is a young retirement, Ill be 55 when I can do it...got a few yrs to go..but then I think, I have never not worked in my life so maybe I should bite the bullet and learn something I want to do for a change. Ill never be able to sit home and do nothing. This job suited my needs allowing me to raise my kids as a single mom, guess its time to branch out.

may I ask what you are in school for? - looking for ideas. nm

With 17+ accounts - what I did was..

[ In Reply To ..]
took and copy and pasted the client specs into an email and sent them to myself on my home computer, which sits right next to my M-Modal computer. I opened the email and copied and pasted the client specs in word and saved them, highlighting and color coding the important stuff I needed to remember. It took me a few days before I finally got all the specs saved for the accounts that I work on, but it was worth it because I never use F5 to refer to specs, I just glance over at my home computer and review them.

However, after a while I barely need to refer to them anymore at all, unless I get an account that I have not worked on in a while, but even them I just open it up in word and look it over real quick and thats it. I have done these accounts for a long time so I know the specs by heart now and seldom have to look over at the other screen.

It's really sad we have to spend our own time for this to make squat.

Did the same thing - using my time

Only to be rewarded with barely any work from my normal accounts..Screw it they get what they get now..

thats the point, we have to spend so much un - paid time on this for the

poverty low pay.

I'm doing the same thing. Stupid little mistakes. - because of too many accounts

[ In Reply To ..]
At last count, I have 9 current accounts that are almost always extremely close to TAT by the time I get them so feel rushed anyway. One of them is broken down into clinics, which all have similar but different specs and all are on 100% QA due to quality issues from India.

Most days I manage to keep my score right at 98.8 but it's really taking its toll to be pushed to get the work out at the last minute and then be snapped at by QA for inserting "a" when the doctor stumbles over his words.

I know for a fact I'm ready to get out of this field and apply to every job I come across that I'm even remotely qualified for.

So many accounts.... - FedUpToHere

[ In Reply To ..]
17 accounts....9 accounts.... and I'm sitting here without work.... I would be glad to pitch in ANYWHERE!!

So true, I would rather have my 17 any day then to - be out of work. I certainly dont

[ In Reply To ..]
want the ones that are 100% QA though. I do remember a time when one of the accounts from my group was 100% QA, but I had no issues with QA. They eventually took it off and now it only automatically routes to QA if there is a blank in it.

I should also note that the many accounts I work on are part of the same health network, but they all have different specifics. I mostly only get work from about 3 of them, but can get work from them all at any given time.
It's better than NJA, but not much. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
By the time you refresh on what seems like 42 pages of specs every few notes and have to relisten to every single one of them while editing yourself due to 100% QA, go over and argue with feedback, your line counts go way down.

It probably wouldn't be so bad if QA was all on the same page but I've gotten the complete opposite feedback on several issues. One says do it one way and another says do it the other way.

I had NJA for a long time, which is why I ended up on so many accounts, and I have to work in the middle of the night/very early morning.

I feel like I am the mouse and MModal is the mouse trap. - mom2huskies

I always make QA but it is getting harder to make any lines. Many days I feel like MModal wants us to fail one way or the other.

I will be so glad to be done with school and get a better job.

Age Limit At MModal?
Jan 24, 2015

I'm about to hit the big 7-0 and am worried I might be let go based on my age even though I'm still passing audits okay.  Some might say I should throw in the towel anyway, but I really need the extra money to supplement my Social Security, plus this job gives me something interesting and stimulating to do.  I've been doing this for many years, yet every single day I learn something new, which I wouldn't get just watching Jerry and Maury or hearing other seniors tal ...

Legality Behind $12 An Hour Limit For PTO
Nov 30, 2012

Has anyone checked into the legality of more and more MTSOs wanting to limit the PTO pay to $12/hour maximum even if you average making more than that? It doesn't seem right to me that they're getting by with "robbing" those who are high producers on PTO pay. ...
