The following come to my mind.

A job where I am appreciated for the work I do and knowledge I have.

A job where the pay is more than minimum wage.

A job where I receive praise once in a while rather than "nitpicking."

Just a few.

I realize this will never happen but it is fun to dream.

And NOT receiving advice from someone who has probably never been an MT/ME and does not have a clue what we do.

Anyone who suggests ditching the foot pedal for the keyboard is clueless. - dnr

I have had my foot pedal quit on me back when I was an IC and have had to use the keyboard to stop and start the audio, and it will not only drive you insane, it will really slow you down.

The advice he gives regarding eliminating distractions, I already do! One look at my ASR inactive time is proof that I am working hard!

Regarding tracking my lph and making it a goal to increase my lph, forget that! The quality of the ASR has the biggest effect on my lph! I have ranged from 270 lph to 40 lph due to the amount of corrections I have to make, plus the amount of formatting I have to do. Add to that the ADT corrections we have to make because IT wrecked the program. Our group has already had to correct the ADT for 6 months now, and no one would answer me when I asked if they were actually working it. Gee, and now they claim that this is a newly recognized problem??!! One facility I do has 4-6 doctors in the ADT that I have to correct, and that takes time --- time I don't get paid for!

Pedal joke - Mt

I laughed when i read the foot pedal suggestion! I too have had my pedal go out and it is so time consuming to start and stop using the keyboard...he definitely has no clue! I wonder if anyone in any of these higher up positions was ever an MT.

I had to switch to keyboard when I sprained my ankle and it was slower. - annoyed to the nth

and not fun:( p.s. do not jump and twist in loose shoes while playing raquetball...

I would be glad to quit using the mouse - if only the UP arrow worked

consistently and didn't get stuck, forcing me to use the mouse!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could always just send the reports through without editing - just another bad tip

Of course I am joking! But there were MTs awhile back who were doing just that - filling out the ADT screen and deleting the junk at the top of the reports and uploading. Yes they finally got caught, but in the meantime their line counts were never better.

I am not sure whose tips and suggestions Shaw was looking through for advice, but using the keyboard instead of the pedal is the worst yet. I had to do that while testing for another company and I was ready to put my head through the screen and give up testing.

I would love to do it. What's the difference? I mean they are going to practically electrocute me anyway for errors on their FIESA. At least I'd have a few days of decent pay before they fired me. LOL.

My goal - is for Shaw to be

chained in a chair and have to wade through this garbage at 99.6% accuracy rate or be given a little negative reinforcement. My goal is to find a different job where I am treated like a person. A job that will never be off-shored and I am paid a living wage.

I have been in Performance Mgmt for a long, long time...perhaps a year or more.  I've come to the conclusion that my managers just don't like me.  Why?  I'm not really sure, other than my longevity in the business.  Most of them know I have double or triple the years of experience as their QAs.  I am scrutinized much more than my colleagues, I'm certain of it.  I just want to be left alone...just let me wear beige and sit in the back row please! ...
