Am I the only one who is bummed that MQ - Kiki

took away Kaiser insurance?  Is is only happening to people in certain states?  They are replacing it with with either United, Choice Plus POS, or HRA (whatever that is), but why do I just know those are going to either cost much more out of pocket and/or be worse in some way.  Whenever they take something away, when is it EVER replaced by something better?

For example, right now I pay about 160 per month (just me), have 20-dollar copays, 15-dollar generic meds with free mail service.  Had to go to the ER recently for the first time in my life.  That costed me 100 but apparently would have costed nothing if I were admitted, but I didn't want to be.  I got a CT scan and 2 MRIs that costed me nothing.

Can anyone who has one of these other plans reassure me that they are at least similar to the above?

A lot of people who worked for MQ couldn't even get Kaiser. I think you had to live in a state where there was a Kaiser. Anyway, I've always had to go with the MQ flow there, and actually, finally, they stuck with the same insurance company for a few years now. It was a nightmare before, having to change the family physician every year, many of whom weren't even accepting new patients. The worst nightmare was Aetna. Glad that's gone from MQ.

Anyway, I don't work there anymore, but I was paying about $300 per month for myself and spouse. I think that's reasonable. I had no problem finding a doctor who accepted United, either. There is a drug plan, but I forget the particulars.

I pay about 160 a month for myself, no copay for preventative care, I have a 1500 year deductable but you can choose lower than that, but just pay higher premiums. Very cheap medication, never pay over 20 dollars for a prescription, sometimes 4 dollars. 80/20 for procedures or surgeries until copay is met then they pay 100%.

That sounds good. Thanks for your reply..n/m. - Kiki

I have United Health Care. My husband was very sick 2 years before he passed away, in and out of the hospital, almost 1 month in ICU. They paid almost everything! Our co-pays are from $4 to $15 and if they are on a the list $50, but I do not get those anymore. The only trouble I had was when I went to physical therapy a couple of years ago in July and they did not pay anything, they said they used my whatever you call it (2000 a year for family thing), but that was the only time they did it. I think because they thought PT was not a real treatment.

First of all, I'm very sorry about your husband. I hope you are doing okay now.

I think (based on other posts here) that you have a 2000 per year deductible, and so the PT didn't cost more than that, and they used it. If it costs 1999 for instance, the next time you had to go there (or anywhere) you'd have to pay 1 dollar and then nothing more (for that year).

I have United, had surgery and cancer last year. - A little surprised

I guess I didn't know what I was signing up for as MQ changes insurance every year, and it always gets more and more complicated. I chose the United PPO HRA plan (about $150/month for me only). This means MQ kicked in some money towards my deductible (about $1200) and I was told my deductible after that it was all on me, about $2000 until United picked up 100%. There's a pretty good choice of doctors, but don't dare go out of network as the fees are about double for you. I had 10 doctors' visits and surgery last year, 3 for skin cancer, and 7 concerning my rotator cuff. I had no office co-pays until after I had an MRI which I also didn't have to pay for, but after that first $1200 was used up, I had to pick up the rest. Then I had surgery which was done as an outpatient. In the end, there was about $20,000 in doctor bills, outpatient surgical center, physical therapy. I'm paying about $1000. I get my meds at Costco - $10 for three months of generic which would have cost me $30 through the mail. Fortunately, I'm able to work out payments with them all as I have zippo in my bank account, and have started charging food with my credit card with my plummeting MQ salary. But my shoulder feels good!

When I worked for MQ 3 years ago I had UHC. I had 2 surgeries, was in 2 different rehab facilities and spent at least 3 months in the hospital all in one year. UHC paid out more than 500k in benefits to me until I used up all of my PTO, FML etc. At that point I was allowed to resign but of course my insurance was terminated as I could not afford COBRA of more than $400 a month. I had been paying $156 a month for employee only coverage.

Re Kaiser I also had Kaiser from MQ when I lived in California and that was the most cost effective option for insurance but when I moved to FL there was no Kaiser so first I had Aetna and then UHC.

So, So Bummed :(

I just got this fabulous job with this company a few months back that is strictly straight typing. I have been an MT for over 20 years at this point. I took a job with a MTSO doing editing for a couple of years and think I lost my rhythm.  My problem is is that my production is supposed to be 1200 lines per day (8 hour shift). I have awesome docs, plenty of mixed work, use a ton of templates, use IT, autotext and autocorrect for expanders, but still can't make it even close to 1200 on ...

I left Nuance to go to Amphion and today, Amphion fired me.  I was on their most difficult account with 73 pages of acct specs, tried as I may, could not get a qc score to pass.  They're min was 98.8, mine was 98.64.  Hopefully I can collect from the inhouse job I had last year.  I'm beginning to think I wasted 12k on school for nothing.  Be kind with any bashing, please.  Although my income only supplemented the household, it was still very much needed to ...

Maybe it's the holiday season when everyone else seems so nice . . then we have MModal.  Is anyone else as down as I am?  They increased our insurance premiums, cut back the time we acrrue on PTO, not to mention the miserable pay.  I asked for time off around Christmas, just got denied.  Now I'm over my limit but the requests are closed!!  Can't get answers cause everyone is so overworked or they're on their OWN time off!  Feeling like something ...
