A question for those of you with seriously low lines counts (sm) - wondering

Do you have another job on the side? Are you married or have someone else helping out? This is not specifically directed at the gal who made 300.00 in three months but to anyone who is in the same boat. I'm just wondering how in the world anybody is making it on just that amount.

It is not that we have LOW LINE COUNTS, it is that - THEY HAVE NO WORK FOR US

Apparently some are being told by their CCMs that the work is being routed in an attempt to get rid of some of us. This is just appalling.

I realize the reason everybody has such low counts is because there is no work and that the actual line count would be sooooo much higher were the work consistent and steady. What I'm wondering is: Do you all have something else to supplement that low work volume?

No, I dont, and I have 2 kids and my supervisor - knows this!

I dont know how they can sleep at night! Unemployment will help, but I am on my own! And try finding another job when this is all you have done for 15 years. I cant even get hired in retail in my area because I have no customer service experience and jobs are so scarce, they would rather hire someone with experience than without. I cant find another company in MT that is worth a damn and I cant find a job outside of it either. THANKS MMODAL! And thanks to myself for not leaving 5 years ago. Im so stupid.

I finally just had to take another MT job. I now work 80 hours a week. Between the 2, I usually manage to end up with the equivalent of one "real" paycheck.

Life is grand.

Say you go by the book, and give 2 weeks notice, and resign. Then you reapply. Wonder if they would move you to a region/team that actually had work.

If you resign and come back, you are considered a new employee so you start out with no benefits and no PTO accumulation for 90 days. Of course that might be an option if one has been out of work for as long as some of you have been. It really is truly appalling.

How many lines do you average per day - VR and traditional? I know it's been VERY slow lately, but when things are going well, how many lines do you normally get? I'm trying to figure out where the average numbers are. For me, I do about 350 trad and about 1400 VR in 8 hours. I was wondering if anyone knows exactly what OSI cuts out of their line counts? Seeing as they use a remote website for line counts, it is pretty obvious they cut corners with what MTs get paid on. I was just wondering WHAT are the cutting? Do they only pay 1 space? Do they not pay if you copy and paste? Do they only pay on a % per page - meaning if you have little on 1 page you aren't going to get any credit for those lines, etc? Just curio ...

I know this has been discussed before, but what is up with these line counts? I used to have no problem doing 200+ lph. Now, I work at the same pace on an account with less ESL speakers and I struggle to get my required 150 lph. According to the Escript, I'm doing an average of 300 lph on VR but usually at the end of 8 hours, I don't top 1100 liines most days. On Dictaphone's ExSpeech, i used to consistently do 1800-2400 a day on a combination. I have noticed with EScript that 1 day a week, my lines will hit 1200-1300, and I even hit 1500 one day, yet the lph were still 300. It doesn't make sense. No, I do not take breaks. I kind of feel dumb even asking this question but how does one get these 300 lph counts I've read about on here? I have 12 years plus years experience and have only worked in 2 different hospitals. Hi - I have a question regarding counting templates. I have a new doc who wants me to only count what he dictates, and not the templated review of systems, past medical history, social history, etc. which is all unchanged (unless he says to change it). Do you cut and paste your work into a "count" file to get the total, or do you tell the doctor that it has to be included in the count. And what about the times he does make changes to the "templated items". I welcome any suggestions. ...
