how can I keep my footpedal - from sliding away?

I currently am using a dictaphone footpedal for ExText, but I am in the process of upgrading to Windows 7 and was told the version of ExText upgrades and I need a USB-2 footpedal. Does anyone know if this can be replaced by the dictaphone or do I absolutely need to have a USB-2? TIA! ...

I try tapping the switch again and nothing happens.
