Are there any HAPPY Mts with good accounts and good pay!

Dear Terrified, Yes there are. :-) - ChickenLover

We just don't boast about it because we'll either get slammed or we'll make others, who are already depressed by a bad situation, even more sad.

I love my job and am incredibly grateful to have it--especially in these incredibly hard times for everyone out there, no matter what their lines of work.

I think the truth of it is...the ones who are HAPPY...as I am...are too BUSY to post much on any lists. I am only posting now, as I am simply taking a break in between files. I think there are many MTs who are very happy/satisfied with their job. I make far more than I would in an office and always have plenty of work to do. I used to attend MT seminars and was shocked at how little most of the MTs knew! Many had no idea what a macro was, what short-cut typing programs were, they bragged that they typed so fast they didn't need anything like that...in other words, they were very ignorant about their own profession. It's a profession...not a job. I think if more people thought of it that way, there would be more qualified MTs..and more happy Mts. Just my 5 cents worth.

I have a great account and a secondary that is not as great but okay when primary runs low. I am grateful every day to have a job, especially knowing so many people around me in our area that aren't as fortunate.

I'm also in the ranks of the happy. I have a great company, a good line rate, and pretty steady work. Yes, it slows around during the holidays, but most places do and I plan around that.

I have found that if you go by just this board for information, you'll get a very skewed, gloomy picture.

Whew! Thanks. I feel much better. To the unhappy ones, hang in there because it is rough out here.

Yes, there are many happy MTs. However if you don't enjoy this field, it is very hard to be happy. I love what I do, it isn't really considered work for me.

Terrified To Take The RHIT Exam
Feb 07, 2012

I got a degree in health information technology in 2007 by an AHIMA certified program. I did it after I got laid off from a transcription job and getting fed up, realizing I would be more marketable with the degree. I continued to work in QA at home and never took my RHIT because I was worried I'd fail and not get my money back for it. I feel like more doors would open up for jobs if I could get it. I wasn't very good with my coding classes and the statistics stuff plain old terrifies ...

I Left MQ 6 Weeks Ago. After 9 Years, I Was Terrified
Apr 01, 2010

to start somewhere new.  I tried 3 other companies in the past, part time while continue to work at MQ, and left each one because the software was so much better at MQ.  Finally, I got sick of the crap and threats and new accounts, and I left.  The day I left I was dancing around my house all day long, so relieved to be rid of them.  Now, I make less than my base at MQ, but I have no ASR, so it's actually more.  The software is not as good, but that is a minor ...
