FOOT PEDAL STICKING - BEARSKINS

I just wanted to thank whoever suggested WD-40 for foot pedal sticking. I have an IN-USB-1 foot pedal that was sticking. I did try cleaning the dust out -- put it back together but it was still sticking -- that is when I would depress the PLAY button, it sometimes would keep playing and press again to stop -- continually -- sometimes I would press the PLAY button and it would not play, etc. Someone on here suggested WD-40 without taking the pedal apart. I took this a step further and I unscrewed the pedal and sprayed WD-40 all over the inner workings (WD-40 is not only a lubricant but a contact cleaner -- I especially sprayed the contact (little plastic button in the middle under the PLAY part of the foot pedal, so that it would soak into the inside). I then put the pedal together (you need a small -- very small size phillips screw driver but worth it as opposed to getting a new foot pedal). I am now using the foot pedal and good as new.

For anyone taking a foot pedal apart, if vacuuming around the creases doesn't work, be EXTREMELY CAREFUL when opening the foot pedal. There are tiny springs in there that can jump out, so you want to make a mental note of where everything goes. I haven't done it for years, but remember it was very tricky getting the thing put back together with springs where they were supposed to be.

I have also heard that WD 40 doesn't last as long as other lubricating oils so I might be better to use another lubricant, maybe sewing machine oil.

WD-40 doesn't last long because it is a water dispersal agent (that's what the WD stands for) and not a lubricant. It is better to use something like a 3-in-1 oil if you want to truly lubricate and not have to redo it.

someone one said that she puts her pedal in a plastic zipper bag and it keeps it from getting gunked up.

I occasionally have a problem with my Express Scribe continuing to play after I take my foot off the pedal; however, the little light on my computer is flashing so in that case it's a computer problem, not a pedal problem.

I'm over testing for the Q on their test site and thought I had installed my foot pedal but it's not working. Does anyone know how to use your foot pedal on the test rather than that silly F1 function key to start and stop the audio? Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong with my foot pedal? While I am working, sometimes when I lift up my foot to stop the dictation, it keeps playing like the pedal is stuck or something. Hello:) I just got a new computer and was in the process of moving my foot pedal over to it, and to my shock, there is no outlet in the back of the new one that is compatible with my old foot pedal, which is a DB9 outlet, there are only USB ports back there. I have a foot petal that has an end on it that looks like a telephone cord plug end. It attaches into another piece which fits into the back of my computer.
