Student with a sequencing question - kevmar3

I am a coding student and have a couple questions. If a patient is admitted for aspiration pneumonia, has difficulty swallowing due to a previous stroke and has a stage 2 decuibuts ulcer on the buttock why is the sequencying in this order
507.0, 438.82, 707.05, 707.22
I get the principal diagnosis, but do not understand why the dysphagia is sequenced before the ulcer.
My next one, admitted for E. coli UTI, on day 2 had exacerbatin of COPD, patient is on current therapy for hypertension and ASHD of the native vessels. The order of the codes is as follows
599.0, 041.49, 491.21, 414.01, 401.9
I put 401.9 - hypertension then 414.01 ASHD native vessels so I had the last two in the wrong order. I do not understand the sequencing of the last two codes.
Any help would really be appreciated. Thank you.
It shouldn't be marked wrong - Are you saying
[ In Reply To ..]that it came up as wrong? If the secondary diagnoses are sequenced in a different order than you had, I don't think it's wrong.

A lot of times students will assume that the textbook order is the only way. In the case of answers like this, other orders might be fine.

[ In Reply To ..]My suggestion is that you sit down with the inpatient coding guidelines and read through the sequencing rules to see if anything applies.
That is the best way to learn the rules, in any event. They are easier if you have something to look for. Applying them is very helpful.
I wonder if this was a computer-graded test. I have heard problems like this from students of one online school in particular.

[ In Reply To ..]I ran across some things when I was going to school, which completely confused me because they were marked wrong and the reason they were was because it was error in the answer book the instructor had. All the instructors do is look at what you submit and match it against what they have in their book. Always, always have your instructor check. Hope this helps

[ In Reply To ..]When I took college coding classes, not one instructor was a coder. If the online test said your answer was wrong, they were unable to explain or to do anything about it. They admitted they didn't know, were very open about never having coded, and just thought that was fine.

[ In Reply To ..]When I took my course and I found errors or was marked wrong, my instructor was great, because she knew how to code. But, it was the answer book she had. So she would have to look at the problem and then we would discuss it, and most of the time I was the correct one, and the book was not, but that sure does make for a really confused student! :) I do wish you the very best with your studies.

Why, oh why, oh why can't the students hit the PAUSE button when they are dictating to gather their thoughts? Why must I sit through listening to page turning, and "thinking" noises? Not that it would be possible, just something I myself have been looking into. The trade school I went to, I paid a little over $12k for my MT course of 9 months. The school is not AHDI certified. I was told ( Back in 2009) that I could get a job right after graduation and be able to work from home. I have heard different interpretations of the "no commercial use" rule by Microsoft about the Home and Student version of Office.
