Not long ago, work was abundant for all MTs, but then it seemed that changed when for some reason, turn around times were shortened markedly. What caused this? Was is just a new way for companies to compete, promising that the work would get back sooner than a client's current MT service, or did something more technical occur, such as government regulations, insurance requirements, etc. I see jobs by the hundreds on the web and yet the complaint is always the same: No work. If the TATs would return to a reasonable amount of time, companies would not over staff and there would once again be plenty of work for everyone. I can see even a TAT of 12 hours, but some are less than 4! Other than STAT reports, what would be the reason for a clinic note to be returned so quickly. I don't know the answer to this, but I am sure that whatever the cause, this is the sole reason for so many of us not having enough work, no matter who we work for. Until this stops, most of us will have to work for 2 or more companies just to make a decent paycheck.
