Transcription Express - how is to work for them? - CB2525

Has anyone worked for Transcription Express and if so, is the pay on time and how is to work for them? I just accepted a position with this company. Thanks any info is appreciated.

I worked for Transcription Express for 3 months full-time and made less than $400. They threaten you with signing a contract stating you will pay them $250 if you leave earlier than 3 months to ensure you will stay with them making $1-$2 an hour.

I tried to give notice to leave and they claimed the day I signed the contract was different than what they show (although I have a copy of the contract stating the date I signed it). I ended up losing around $200 and a lot more than that if you include the time I spent with this scam.

I am trying to get the word out to warn other stay at home moms that this is a scam. Oh and they have a good rating with the BBB and coincidentally are a member of the BBB.

This sounds like a big scam and it sounds like somebody who owns some sort of interest in this company wrote the reponse to why this place seems ok. From what the first person wrote, this place isnt ok, it is a scam. And I can't imagine working from home making no money. That would defeat the purpose. And if this isnt a job to support a family, why even do it in the first place? And their contract sounds like a big scam I wouldn't sign either. Sounds like the company is out to make a profit at the expense of the poor person who gets suckered into working for them. Who works for a company that doesn't pay for your training? What a huge scam, was looking into moving and working here, glad I am not going to do that at all!

Although the company is not an actual type-at-home scam business, you will not earn much money and it will take months before you break even, which is when everyone usually leaves so you wind up wasting months of your time and left in financial despair. They now even charge up-front fees $475 for transcription euipment that they "lease" to you for almost double what you could buy it for and are not honest enough to tell you until it's too late that you could go out and buy an actual "old-fashioned" machine for you to use and actually own until it's only two days before you need it and then it's too late. And yes, you never see that money back. Plus, they have increased the "termination fee" so what they are doing, is ensuring that they have people work for them for free, knowing full well that with the hundreds of dollars in "fees" they charge, it's as though they received all your work for free.

Now even if you do stay around a bit, you will never see the kinds of money they claim on their website and will be lucky to make the minimum of $300-400 a month shown which means anyone who thought they had an income was wrong. What they pay for page is also less than half of what medical transcriptionists are paid as well as multiple times less than what companies who hire employees to transcribe also pay.

Also, you are not an employee, you are a sub-contractor, which means they found the legal loopholes to govern everything about the "job" you do for them except the hours you work and then don't tell anyone in training that not only will they have to file a Schedule C for self-employment on their taxes, but that they will also owe Uncle Sam both halves of Social Security or in other words, a minimum of 30% of their net income in just federal taxes (plus there's also Arizona taxes) after taking off just a few expenses like "fees" and mileage from their income.

There's a reason why they have a HUGE turnover - people walk out as soon as they can after the date set for the "early termination fee", if they last that long. You never see a smiling face there, just people complaining about how terrible the quality of the tapes are.

Don't waste your time with this company - you will regret it.

Does anyone know anything about Transcriptions Express? In researching them I found 3 complaints on the Rip Off Report about them. They, evidently, charge for early termination, is this standard? Hi, I bought ES Pro in 2012 and have not had any problems with playing dictation. I also have DSS to WAV to convert files. I converted a DS2 file to WAV but a message pops up that I'm using a "demo trial version for evaluation use only" and I now need to purchase an upgrade. Ugh!!! I have just started having trouble with Express Scribe. Regardless of whether I am using the foot pedal or the function keys, it is as if the program does not recognize what I am doing. Sometimes it takes multiple presses of the stop button or taps on the footpedal to get the dictation to stop. Sometimes when I press reverse on the footpedal I end up playing or fast forwarding.
