Nuance or SoftScript? Pay? Treatment? - Joan

I've heard bad things about both, but which is worse? Pay per line? Pay for headers & spaces? QA torture?
Thanks for any advice!
With Nuance, pay is going to vary - sm

Pay with Nuance will vary due to several factors, first of which will be determined by which platform the account(s) you're hired on to work on. Some platforms have one pay scale, other platforms have another pay scale. Either way, you practically have to jump through hoops to make your money as Nuance has a seemingly HUGE department full of creative-type math wizards who have concocted a very lovely "pay grid" by which your pay will be determined each week. You might make one thing one week, and the next week you will very likely make something else.
As far as QA goes with Nuance, it's the postaudits that go hand in hand in determining your pay. It all depends on the luck of the draw how you'll fare pay-wise.
Nuance's insurance plan is a joke. If I'm not mistaken the deductible is $7,500.00, which means the only thing it's good for is if you have something major. If you're planning on covering your family, I've heard that you might be lucky if your paycheck will cover the amount of your payments each payday.
That's about all I have time to tell you right now... gotta get back on the clock. My lunch break is over ;)
PS - I've never worked at SS, so no help there, sorry.

Why bother at all. Your pay will suck, you'll be lucky to get any work on a regular basis. Better to jump ship and find a whole nother kind of work. You will just be biding your time until you do find something better.

I do not have anything really bad to say about Nuance. Yes I wish I was still at my old company that they acquired but I do not have anything horrible to say. Pay will vary....but if you are consistent in the way that you work it shouldn't. Mine does not vary unless it is slightly due to being off, etc. No QA torture for me even though people say otherwise on here. I guess it depends on who is checking your work? I have even seen tiny mistakes they could have counted me off for and did not. The other mistakes were 99% correct on their end and had every reason to ding me. It is what it is. I make more with the new pay plan but some say different. I guess it all depends. Never worked for SoftScript.
Softscript--only good thing is that they leave you alone - By never answering any of your email

Not a problem if you never any problems or questions. Pay is 6.5 cpl to start and 8 cpl after 8 years. OOW has become a daily problem.
Trying to decide which to test for. Tried to send an email to SS regarding their current add for a transcriptionist for an orthopedic account but it returned undeliverable using their email address provided on their site. Anyone know of another way to contact them? Thank you ...
Nuance Fiesa is about to drive me insane. 0.25 deduction for not putting a period in. REALLY???? I will contest it, but hate the amount of time we have to spend defending ourselves against this crappy QA system.
Thinking about SoftScript. Anyone able to compare how their QA stands next to Nuance. Any info for comparison purposes welcome.
I realize there is no such thing as a perfect company, but... Thanks. ...

I have taken so many tests lately with probably dozens of companies. I am wondering how you feel about Nuance tests and if it is harder or easier than the other companies. I personally thought Softscript test was kind of hard, compared with Nuance. Some of the transcription audio files were a little hard with mumbling and fast talking dictators, but really not bad when compared to others. Hopefully I might be hired with Nuance, so no more testing, I hope. I ha ...

Hi!
I am transcribing a note where the doctor indicated the patient had verrucous lesions on her finger and said, "because of this, I am treating her with ___________." I work for 96 physicians who (rightfylly so) expect the best and fastest quality transciption.
