Advantec MT, Inc. - Marilyn

Posted: Apr 20, 2010

Does anyone currently work for, worked for in the past, have interviewed with or have any information on Advantec MT, Inc. in Florida? I could find nothing in the Archieves, so would appreciate any information anyone might have as I have interviewed with them and need some feedback. They also require that you buy the software needed to transcribe their dictation, which is pretty pricey with no reimbursement from them. Just would like to have some info good or bad as I have never heard of this company before. Thanks!

never EVER pay for software to do a job. n-e-v-e-r. NM - anon

WHY? - Marilyn

This is the first time I have ever heard of a company charging for software, but they are not selling it. You have to purchase it from the company that makes it and I do think this quite odd, but why are you so adamant about never paying for software?I would like to know something, anything about Advantec if anyone has any information about them.

Because legitimate companies do not charge the MT - For software

Even if this is NOT a scam, it is totally unnecessary to purchase operating software. 99.99% of MTSOs provide needed software at the time they hire you. You should not have to pay for software to make money FOR them!

that you probably can't use anywhere else. Almost any company will provide you with software. I hope this place isn't "Trans Scam" going by another name!

I agree that buying software is not a good idea, even though they say if you decide you do not want to stay you will be refunded your money from the software company. HOWEVER, it seems no one has ever heard of or worked for this company, as no one here has come forward to supply any information about Advantec at all, so this concerns me. Many MTs visit this site and I would think somewhere along the way someone somewhere has heard of them.
Two red flags, run! Unkn company & your $$ for software! nm - Not worth it

Advantec and software - AnotherTranscriptionist

Several years ago, a friend with many years of experience took a job because they were local to her. She was not happy there and did not stay long (I can't remember why), but she paid for the software part way. She had trouble collecting her last paycheck and she said they deducted the balance for the software from that! When I heard that, I decided I would not ever pay for software anywhere. Good luck to you, whatever you do.

What's the name of the software? nm - sosmt

NAME OF SOFTWARE - Marilyn

The name of the software is WordScript.
Anyone ever heard of it or worked on it?

Google search - Happy MT Robin

I did a Google search for Wordscript which led me to M2ComSys Inc. which apparently is the company that developed it. This is a whole separate transcription company.

It sounds like Advantec is subcontracting to this M2ComSys company.

They call themselves one of the most acclaimed and sought-after transcription companies in the world and go on to claim that they are spearheading a technical revolution in the field.

Uh huh. If they were so acclaimed and sought after, you'd think ONE of us would have heard of them.

Don't do it. Stay far away from both of these companies. Something stinks, and it's not my cat's breath.

Like other posters have said NEVER pay for a company's typing platform software. There are way too many legit companies out there who provide you with the platform/software to use without charging you for it.

The only software you should ever be paying for is a good word expander program like Instant Text or Smartype.
I agree with above poster... sm - sosmt

If you would have said DocShuttle by ByteScribe, I would have been a **little** okay with that one (I have used that software at several companies). I've never heard of the software you named, BUT I have heard of that company M2ComSys... I worked there VERY briefly a few years back, and my advice is to STAY AWAY! TONS of ESLs, never got the same doctor twice during the two- or three-week period that I worked there.

Stay Away From Advantec
Oct 03, 2011

I was just fired from Advantec, working on an oncology account because they told me that they did not have time to train me on account specifics for the 25 doctors, each with a different template, and because I got 2 experimental drug names incorrect. I was on 100% review and if I did not understand a word I left a blank and went from there.  I am very upset about this.  I have been a transcriptionist for 10 years and I am very upset about this.  ...

Advantec/edocs

Anyone know what is going on with this company?  Plenty of work upon hire and now...not enough work to even make a $1 an hour...of course, that could be because their cpl rates are 6 cpl while training, 7 after you get off QA (if you ever do) and 2 cpl for qualified text.  I was hired because they had a "ton of work."  TAT was being met yet they hired more people recently.  I just don't get it.  Why do companies do this? ...
