A non distracted physician - Ff

Posted: Dec 18th, 2024 - 10:05 pm

Saw this doctor for the first time for myself (not transcribing for). I was so impressed by how she sat on the little twirly stool in the exam room in front of her laptop. BUT during any conversation between us, she took her hands off the keyboard, turned her whole body towards me and made eye contact during the conversation. I did not feel rushed, and I felt heard. I understand why healthcare professionals are rushed, why they are trying to do 3 things at once, why they constantly correct themselves during dictation and try to dictate in vehicles, subways and busy operating rooms.  They are under pressure and just trying to get it done. I felt like this particular facility I was in, really tries hard to slow down, spend more time in the exam room and make the patient feel like I felt when I left. They also had a sign in the waiting room: If you've been waiting more than 15 minutes please let us know. Another first and I'm 71. And just for the record it was a cancer hospital in Santa Fe, NM.  She is an excellent oncologist who cleared me for cancer as I get checked out every few years.
