Options for playing digital files other than Express Scribe? - desert dweller

Posted: Nov 14th, 2024 - 9:20 am

I've been using Express Scribe for medical transcription for many, many years. Recently ran into issues with it not working on my desktop. It works fine on my laptop, so I've been doing the actual transcription on my desktop while playing the audio files on my laptop (yes, it's a crazy setup). I recently tried the demo version of Express Scribe on my desktop after uninstalling it, but of course they're wanting me to buy the full license again and won't accept my old license as it's expired (I even tried using the license number from Express Scribe that is installed on my laptop, but that was a no go as well as it's an older version).

I'm just wondering if anyone uses anything different then Express Scribe to play digital files (with the foot pedal) and that ideally may be cheaper than Express Scribe? I know there's a lot of new technology out there that I don't know about. I've done a cursory search, but just wanted to ask on here to see if anyone had any personal experience with any other audio software before I go any further. Thanks in advance!
