I went from on site MT to medical records specialist for the same facility. I didn’t leave MT by choice, but my department was outsourced and the work sent offshore, so it was an internal transfer. I recently retired from that job, and after volunteering was hired part-time at a library. Apparently, I’m not supposed to post here because technically I’m no longer an MT, although it was my occupation for over 40 years. Depending on your age, you might have more options available to you than I did.
