The hospitals in my area use residents and medical students as scribes and they go through some type of training program. I don’t know if they hire other hospital employees as scribes, but they probably do. I only knew one former MT who now works as a scribe for an orthopedics clinic and she is paid well. I don’t understand how virtual scribing works, but on site you are on your feet a lot going from room to room and following the provider around, it is not sedentary like MT. Anyone who is trained in some of the tasks an MA or CNA does would do well.
