How long do voice files need to be stored legally? - Sandy

Posted: Oct 6th, 2021 - 11:56 am

Can anyone tell me the length of time voice files need to be archived legally.  i know that in some states medical records are to be kept for six years.

Are voice files separate in that they are not a document but rather the dictation that is then transcribed as a legal document? If voice files are not technically a "legal document" and the transcription of the voice file is, is there a legal time frame for keeping the voice files?

Thanks,

Sandy
