Yes there is a limit to what you can make if you take early - poster from above

Yes, if you take SS at age 62 you ARE limited in what you can make per year; when I took early retirement 4 years ago, I was only allowed to make 17K or so. When you reach your FULL retirement age, then you can earn as much as you would like. As far as paying taxes; when I applied for SS, I made my SS income nontaxable; and my earnings as an IC were taxed normally etc. I did not do any of the other things mentioned in the previous post.
