Foot pedal use at a standing desk - 40 years in

I 've been trascribing for 40 years.  The sitting has really caught up with me and my hips are really sore at the end of the day.  I would love to try a standing desk, but I can't find any info about how to manipulate the pedal while standing.  It seems that it would be very awkward and uncomfortable.   Anyone out there have a solution?  Thanks!
