I would want to know the volume of reports. I've never seen a radiologist dictate more than two hours a day. I would charge him $25 for each hour of your time. That's a win-win. You receive a fair hourly wage, and he has dependable transcription help, which will probably cost him less than $250 per week. If you are charging per report, I would say $3 for routine films (chest x-rays, etc.) and $4 for MRIs/CTs, etc. Again, unless you're going to be transcribing all day, I think an hourly rate is better. I could almost guarantee he would be fine with $25/hour.
Congratulations on working directly for the doctor. If we could educate doctors and hospitals that we don't need intermediary companies, everyone would be a lot happier!
